Synopsis

In a flooded town where the waters are ever-rising, an old man must constantly build new floors onto his home in order to keep dry. But when his favorite smoking pipe falls into the watery abyss beneath him, he dives into the depths of not only his house, but memories of years past.

Tsumiki no Ie is a short film about the everlasting effect of time on one's life—how it can swallow the past entirely, and how one must learn to continue moving forward despite what has already happened.

8/10 ~ Its a great metaphor

This was a great 12 minutes, a touching tale at the end of someone life looking back at where they come from. You can probably extrapolate more from this short film but it really just is a look back at life, each brick is just a moment of his life and hes just about at the end. The lack of dialog, paired with somber music and a very realistic artsyle was a joy to watch.

Now, I dont understand how this is considered anime, but AtLA, Rohirrim, and Arcane are not? bit weird if you ask me.

I would ...

Mixed Feelings
Okay, fine. You got me. I admit I didn't fully understand this short, it has a deep meaning that I can't quite grasp because my mind just kept thinking “Why did everything suddenly fill up with water?”. I don't have much to say about it. The short lasts 12 minutes and tells you from beginning to end a story that you do understand, but in my case, I did not understand the meaning. It has no dialogue, however, it is not necessary to understand or empathize with the protagonist, you know what he is feeling when he remembers certain things, you can understand the sadness ...

FunnyFunny
Unlike most of the other reviewers who pissed themselves stupid with some notion that this is a masterpiece of some metaphorical/philosophical greatness. It's not. There I said it, it is really a waste of 12ish minutes of your life. If you're a student of art definitely watch it, or if you're like me and "like art but nah not my bag", then don't waste your time.

Pros: Artsy, nothing else.

Cons: Bad music, no acceptable lines of speech, non-interesting or intriguing characters, story has little to no substance.

If there was some story attesting to how this world became flooded and why does it keep rising, or interaction ...
