Prison School

Located on the outskirts of Tokyo, Hachimitsu Private Academy is a prestigious all-girls boarding school, famous for its high-quality education and disciplined students. However, this is all about to change due to the revision of the school's most iconic policy, as boys are now able to enroll as well.

At the start of the first semester under this new decree, a mere five boys have been accepted, effectively splitting the student body into a ratio of two hundred girls to one boy. Kiyoshi, Gakuto, Shingo, Andre, and Jo are quickly cast away without having a chance to make any kind of a first impression. Unable to communicate with their fellow female students, the eager boys set their sights on a far more dangerous task: peeping into the girls' bath!

It is only after their plan is thoroughly decimated by the infamous Underground Student Council that the motley crew find their freedom abruptly taken from them, as they are thrown into the school's prison with the sentence of an entire month as punishment. Thus begins the tale of the boys' harsh lives in Prison School, a righteous struggle that will ultimately test the bonds of friendship and perverted brotherhood.

I literally created a account here just so I could review Prison School. This was the first true anime that I sat through and watched, my eyes glued to the screen through every episode. This is also the first show that I can remember actually belly laughing without trying or my own laughs feeling forced. I remember sitting there watching one of the episodes in the last just spewing out of me uncontrollably. This is what I've searched for and not just anime but in all media something that can make me laugh genuinely and something that can keep me glued to the screen excited ... for the next episode and a feeling of dread when it's all said and done. This is the show that got me also into manga because I had to start buying manga to see how the story officially ended. With all the positive reviews that Prison School has received over the years it shocks me that they've never decided to continue it but that would make my life if they did.

Long story short I rate this over a 10 in every subject and if you haven't watched it you're completely missing out. Prison school forever!

Mixed Feelings

Prison school is a hard anime to judge , considering that its jokes constantly teeter on the fence between parody and genuine fanservice/pervy-ness ; blurring that line just enough to get away with more than its probably allowed. Despite this , I think I can pretty confidently say that it has a majority of positive intentions and is one of the few anime which has been able to dredge a consistent stream of laughs out of me.

The comedy itself, whilst of course lending itself heavily towards more crass , inappropriate humour, manages not to lose the intelligence required to actually make a joke funny. I ... feel that a lot of other shows wouldn't run with the lack of R-18-restrictions in the way that Prison school does, where there is more than the shock of nudity or inappropriate images to get a rise out of you. The characters genuinely serve a comedic purpose (however stereotypical it may be) and can be predicted in a way that suggests they have some modicum of personality.

Now, don't get me wrong , this isn't to say Prison school has fantastically-written characters (or even well-written characters). I just believe that it goes a stretch beyond some of the dime-a-dozen ecchi shows which have become so abundant in recent years.

I guess this brings me onto my negatives. The main gripe I can imagine surrounds Prison school is the- admittedly very blatant - objectification of women which literally becomes the crux of the show. I find it hard, as a guy, to really form an opinion about this. On one hand, I can probably argue about satire and parody and 'the meaning of comedy' or some shit .On the other hand, you can't argue with the fact that someone was offended and that is just the way it is. The show doesn't really exist without that inherent sexism , so its definitely a hard issue to talk about. I think that viewing it from a parody angle probably removes that concern but its definitely a matter of viewpoint .

Either way, the show definitely has a host of other issues under this main, overarching complaint. The characters are pretty unlikeable (intentional?), maybe excluding the glasses guy. The problem with this is that it not only plagues the main male-cast, but also pretty much everyone in the show. This kind of affects my motivation as no character makes me want to follow them, and any moment where the jokes get old or something doesn't hit loses *aaaalllll* of the momentum the show had been building to that point, considering that that is basically the only reason I'm here. Luckily, that was rare.

Either way, I can atleast say that my degenerate ass had a good time, so do with that what you will .

I really wonder how the Japanese regulatory departments allowed such an anti-masculine anime to be made.
Throughout the anime, we see boys being humiliated and girls who seeking power and sadism.
Boys are defined as sensual animals who only care about physical and sexual desires, and girls are creatures to be protected.
The foundation of a normal school and education has been questioned and we are witnessing the promotion of a wrong kind of feminism and anti-men.
And worse than that, we see boys who accept and adapt to the unreasonable tyranny of girls instead of dealing with it rationally.
In no country and no school does the student council ... have the right to beat and physically deal with students, even if the student is a murderer.
I really feel sorry for the creators of such animes that promote violence against men and the wrong way of being a feminist.
This anime is nothing but entertainment for sexual perverts.
