Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen

Urano Motosu loves books and has an endless desire to read literature, no matter the subject. She almost fulfills her dream job of becoming a librarian before her life is ended in an accident. As she draws her last breath, she wishes to be able to read more books in her next life.

As if fate was listening to her prayer, she wakes up reincarnated as Myne—a frail five-year-old girl living in a medieval era. What immediately comes to her mind is her passion. She tries to find something to read, only to become frustrated by the lack of books at her disposal.

Without the printing press, books have to be written and copied by hand, making them very expensive; as such, only a few nobles can afford them—but this won't stop Myne. She will prove that her will to read is unbreakable, and if there are no books around, she will make them herself!

This anime is amazing! If you like great storys, with well developed hero's journey, and SPECIALLY BOOKS you probably is going to like Honzuki no Gekokujou.
I love books, so i just felt the heroine's pain when she saw herself in a place without books to read and talk about!
The animations are not the best of all, but this dosn't metter when you have a great story behind.
Each of the characters have a unique style, not only visual, but especially in the way they express and talk with others.
The protagonist is kind and fun, so you're not going to be tired watching ... it. I'm ansious to watch season 2, and hoping that animation will get a little better.

Mixed Feelings

I genuinely wish I liked this series, but it never seems to find its footing throughout the first season. (It might later, but I will not watch season two or three.) What amounts to a business in another world isekai starts as a girl's quest to read books. This might be a general issue I have with this character trope, but it holds true with our titular book worm, reading books is not interesting. When a character reads a book its short hand for "this person is smart, a voice of reason, or (in the case of classic literature) a stand in for the author," ... but it says nothing about how that character can actually function inside of a show. Our MC is not interested in any singular type of literature. She doesn't care if its instruction manuals or Tolstoy, she just wants to read, so the entire show of our strong willed protagonist slowly morphs into her wanted to run a bookstore, which is more interesting, but it feels like an excuse for her to use her super memorization ability to show off in a power fantasy way.

If you've read Tanya of the Evil you'll know the author slips in Austrian Economics consistently to showcase both Tanya's ideology, methodology, and real world examples of how decisions can come to pass. It is the thing that separates her from the pack and causes her peers to view her as evil. The bookworm doesn't have this ideology to root her character nor are any of the other characters interesting enough to warrant satisfaction to see how they fawn after her.

The great merit of this show is the slice of life elements. It is cute and unique in its presentation of cuteness. This may be enough for some people as it was enough for me to finish the first season.

Abysmal crap. Interesting premise ruined by crap writing and crap characters. Genuinely an insult to watch. Myne genuinely has 0 consistency besides being a lib reincarnated into a medeival setting as some sort of power fantasy. Every "conflict" if you can even call it that is someone else's fault or something else and if everyone were just as lib as her would make the world be perfect. All the relationships are fake and she seems to lie on a whim yet sometimes has genuine feelings and is remorseful yet unremorseful for any decision she makes. She is often 2-faced and when actually confronted for this, ... it was actually no problem at all. Also, the knowledge she brings is like not useful but the plot has to work around it being useful so everyone is forced to love it I suppose.
