Yes ka No ka Hanbun ka

Kei Kunieda is a newscaster who strictly maintains an amiable and kind persona while at work. Although he smiles on the outside, he covertly curses at others to his heart's content. His everyday life is smooth, even if he keeps half of himself hidden at all times, but that changes when he meets Ushio Tsuzuki, an independent stop-motion animator.

Soon, Kei finds himself caught in a lie borne from his two personas meeting Ushio under different conditions, with the other man unaware they are the very same person. As feelings begin to blossom between them, Kei cannot be sure if Ushio will love both sides of him—or only just half.

This film is better suited to longtime fans of yaoi. People who enjoy things like Given and Umibe no Étranger won't like how this ends. I will say it's not as bad as things like the first episode of Junjou Romantica or any of the short yaoi OVAs from the early 2000s.

Story: The classic mistaken identity story - "he's not Superman when he puts the glasses on". I liked the setting. It wasn't anything special but a cute take on this trope.

Characters: Kuneida was one of those two sided characters who has different personalities depending on who he's with and what he's thinking. Tsuzuki started ... off gruff but warmed up quickly and became kind. Common tropes, but they worked well with each other and the story.

Style: The art is nice and well-detailed. It makes this story's setting soft and pleasant to watch.

Recommendation: I'd recommend it even if you are iffy with pushy semes. Just skip the sex scene, it doesn't really add anything to the story. There are much worse ones out there.

Mixed Feelings

What the heck. Way to ruin a cute show towards the end. That scene is entirely out of no where. I can't even imagine a loss in translation situation because the character is very clear more than once.

Its as if the bl industry hasn’t been going on for over 20 years. When will they stop adding unnecessary intimate scenes to a good bl, they moved too fast imo but it cant be blamed since it was just a movie, yet they still decided to add a useless intimate scene that was, in my opinion, disguised cherry coated r*pe. Awful T_T i do not recommend this to anyone, it’s like if love stage and junjou romantica got mixed together. (Both awful fetishizing animes btw). Why can’t we as an audience get something that’s not toxic or fetishizing T_T just please if you want ... actual non toxic bl, just watch sasaki and miyano or cherry magic (currently being adapted into anime), they’re both slower at pace and handle non fetishizing relationships. (Not so sure abt cherry magic, i did not finish the show and i retook it with the new adaptation, however, s&m is very well written and so are the ovas, please consider them if you’re looking for a non toxic or fetishizing bl anime) it’s so hard these days to find decent bl animes, wish the industry took in consideration many other better mangas that are not fetishizing or rushed.
