Since nobody has written a review, I'll do a quick one.
It's kind of amazing that an indie anime film can be made like this. The effort put into this is tremendous. Even if this wasn't a good film I would still give it immense praise for what the creator has done.
But the film is also amazing. Like I legitimately love their work here. The art is 10/10. The mech designs are really technical and grounded, taking a lot of inspiration from aircraft which I like. Everything to do with the mechs is awesome and really well realized. It's a pretty static movie for the

most part but when the mech animation shines, it really shines. The action sakuga is really above what would be expected of a one person film considering the length.
But I think what I like the most are the static shots. They are often beautiful and make me feel the emotions the film is trying to display. Some of the character scenes are really evocative. It reminds me a lot of Makoto Shinkai's early work.
The story isn't groundbreaking for mecha (mecha ghosts, the classic anime aliens who are inixplicable but are copying humans more and more) but I still loved it. Its simple and effective. Films, especially short half hour ones like this, don't always have the time to develop complex stories. This one serves its purpose well and has a lot more intrigue and appeal to me than most stories in anime. I think this is also part of a complicated setting consisting of the creator's other films, though idk how they connect. So actually there is a lot of depth here.
The main romance was really engaging for me, I love this kind of thing and the art really sold the love for me. It pulled on my heart strings. I personally don't care about the will they wont they and I much prefer any kind of romance where it's just about their love for each other, and then the plot can be spent on more interesting things whilst also keeping the emotional core.
This film is just incredibly appealing to me and it's ended up as one of my favourites in the medium. I love the military theme, the mecha, the yuri. I've rewatched it a few times and I've enjoyed it every time. I've come to really love this film and I can say its one of my favourites of all time. It speaks to me in a way most anime don't. I highly recommend.
