Lilly
The gusting wind blew down the last flower from the cherry blossom tree, a mysterious, dark figure walked casually away from the distant horrified screams. The fog that surrounded him floated, lingered on the horizon. As the unknown figure came closer to Lilly, the wind wept, moving the hood of the cloak back revealing a wicked smirk. Lilly froze at his scarred smile and looked over her shoulder at the black figure camouflaging itself into the fog. Lilly moved towards the screams still cautious about the person in the cloak, especially now that he had disappeared from sight. Another scream echoed through Lilly’s ears. With a sudden moment of panic she picked up her speed, running until she could see a growing crowd. Her shoes squelched against the path. She felt the liquid seep through her shoes dying it blood red… Only this wasn’t dye this was in fact blood… The blood of her brother…
Lilly fell to the ground, the puddle of blood now staining her clothes she started to weep into her hands screaming at the sight of her brother’s dead body. She scrambled at him trying to awaken him but it was no use, she knew there was nothing she could do. His eyes were hollow; all she could see was emptiness. They were looking in her direction, the way the black figure had walked off too. Lilly touched his pale skin and quickly snatched her hand away at the fright of how cold his body was. She wanted to awaken from this nightmare, she wanted it to all stop, to turn back time. Nothing would ever change that. Her brother had been stabbed in the face with his flesh attached to the knife. His throat had been brutally cut, it was held by the tinniest bit of flesh.
Lilly knelt on the floor with her hands in her lap looking into her brothers eyes.
She stared deep into her brother’s eyes, unable to take them away. As she was being drawn into a trance. Feeling like she was being dragged into the emptiness. Her mind went blank as images began to appear in front of her. She was entranced as she saw her brother walking past her. The breeze was cold making her tears that were streaming down her face like ice. Lilly reached out to touch him but her hand disappeared into a cloud of smoke. “Why couldn’t she touch him? Why was this happening to her?” the morning dew dripped from empty branches of the cherry blossom tree. Her brother walked into the misty fog followed by Lilly. A tree branch snapped from right behind them. Her brother quickly turned around looking straight at Lilly; she could see the fear in his eyes. He moved slowly towards the noise and suddenly a knife scythed past his cheek leaving a cut. He turned and ran disappearing into the fog. The black figure strolled out from the fog picking up his knife and ran into the trees. Lilly stood there, as still as a tree; her eyes following the black figure as he headed into the greenery. After a moment’s pause, a blood curdling scream reached her ears. She took a few weary steps before sprinting into the trees. She looked both ways, cautious that she wouldn’t bump into them.
She came to a sudden halt as her brother was thrown against a tree. Lilly screamed seeing her brother’s head snap back as the black figure came in with a punch. Biting his lip as his head went back feeling the blood rushing to his head. Lilly stepped in making her whole body turn cloudy, her brother kicked out viciously hitting him in the knee. The black figure fell to the ground howling in pain. As Lilly and her brother dashed out from the trees, she looked over her shoulder to see the black figure standing up with that wicked smirk. Lilly was slower than him, she was right behind him until the black figure came from the fog in front and grabbed her brothers head cutting his throat viciously.
Lilly ran screaming, trying to pull the black figure off him, his cloak rippled as her hand tried to pull him off. Lilly fell to the floor as her legs gave way under her. The black figure was still standing over her brother and stabbed him in the cheek turning it around making the flesh peel off and wrap around the blade. Lilly looked in horror, tears pouring down her face. The black figure shoved her brother to the ground, turning himself to face Lilly. He moved over to her but Lilly couldn’t move it was like she was glued to the ground. He bent down close to her face, she could feel his cold icy breath on her skin, he reached up and pulled the hood of his cloak down, revealing his face. Lilly screamed as her head hit the ground.
Her vision went hazy as she returned from the trance. Lilly gasped for air, holding her ears, ducking her head into her knees, rocking back and forward, trying to forget the images she had seen. Lilly looked at her brother his body now stinking of rotten flesh. She blinked hard, making the tears come out of her eyes, she opened them seeing the black figure right up close to her face, making Lilly realise what she had seen was true.
The black figure lunged for her with his hand outstretched, aiming for her throat. Lilly ducked moving out of his path and sprinted towards her house, trying to find a hiding place. Running so fast she tripped on her own steps. She ran up the stairs, taking them two at a time and headed to her bedroom, slamming the door shut, trying to find something to protect herself with. Her parents weren’t home, no one was around, if she had died no one would find her, just like her brother. She looked out the window and couldn’t see the black figure coming. Lilly started to relax and lay down on her bed.
Lilly woke up to see that most of the light had gone from her bed room; she headed to the window seeing the street light flicker. The fog had lifted, she could see everything clearly now. Nothing had happened no noise, nothing…
The black figure hadn’t followed her home. Lilly walked from her room, her movements were unsteady. She slowly walked down the stairs, this time she was taking them with ease. She turned the TV on, she didn’t bother putting any lights on the TV had lit up the room. Lilly sat lounging on the couch, flicking through the channels and finally came to a stop.
A few months had passed; she was trying to forget the images she had seen. Lilly went to the kitchen to make herself eggs on toast. A loud knock came from the front door making her drop the eggs on the floor. Lilly staggered towards the door turning the outdoor light switch on but no light came. She opened the door to see the black figure standing there, she tried to slam the door shut but he had pressed the knife into the door. Lilly used all her force to shut it which it did. She breathed heavily making a shrieking noise. She looked at the door frightened that he was here, there was no noise, the black figure had disappeared yet again. Lilly walked backwards into the living room still focused on the door. She quickly headed to the fireplace picking up a poker; she crouched in the corner by the window her eyes now fixed to the kitchen. Lilly had forgotten to lock the back door but heard no sound of the door opening. Lilly stood up her hands placed to the walls easing her balance; she took tiny steps at a time as she heard the back door handle turn. She made a dash into the kitchen locking the door shut. She heard another sound coming from the kitchen and ran back into the living room, as she ran past the door leading into the living room the black figure punched her in the head making her fall to the ground.
Blood was pouring from her nose. She looked up at him holding her nose the blood now dripping from her hands. She looked around her trying to grab the poker but the poker had been knocked out her hands. The black figure bent down beside her revealing his knife, her eyes widened as the knife went back to his side, Lilly closed her eyes shivering as his cold hands touched her neck, he tilt her head back so she was looking up into his eyes, his smirk grew wider and Lilly shut her eyes not being able to see his smirk grow wider. Lilly heard her flesh being torn but it wasn’t her throat he had stabbed the knife in her hand. Her screams filled the room still screaming until he took the knife out. He pinned her against the wall strangling her.
Still strangling her, He raised his arm for a repetition of what had happened to her brother, when suddenly the wall started to crumble behind her head. Lilly suddenly opened her eyes to see that she hadn’t been killed but the knife had been plunged into the wall. As he turned the knife the cracking of the walls continued, as he pulled it out you could see the huge slash that had been created by the knife which could’ve been her. As she struggled, the Black figure lost grip over the sharp device, aiming it towards his neck, piercing his skin. Crashing to the floor his smile began to weaken. He fell and his hood drew back to reveal his monstrous face, Lilly bent down to inspect the human she thought he was. As she looked she could see the small portion of his face which no longer existed with his blackened hole where his eye used to sit. As she slowly strode back her eyes could not leave the rotten face. Stepping over his cold pale hand she started to walk away in relief, she sighed heavily, next moment her leg was pushed forward with a loud thump she was on the ground. Lilly landed on her back, blood spluttered from her mouth. She cried in agony trying her best to stand up until suddenly the black figure lent over her peeling back his flesh; blood dripping everywhere on her face. Screaming with fear, Lilly tried to kick out but he pinned her down, he was too strong, a full grown man against a school girl… She lay motionless and weak, he placed the knife to her face, moving it up and down, making her spine shiver, Lilly grew more and more pale as he slowly pulled his knife towards her mouth, ferociously pulling it back towards her ears, chopping her head in two. Her face went paler still as the blood dripped from her mouth. Lilly’s eyes slowly closed, squeezing out the last tears. The tears ran down her face, mixing in with the blood.
