Ugh... I think my IQ just dropped a few dozen points. Just... Ugh, I can't even form an intelligent sounding sentence. I am just so fucking pissed off right now.

*Deep breath* Okay, here's the story: I was on YouTube (I swear, I'm starting to hate that fucking site), and I found a video addressing domestic abuse; more specifically, women being abusive towards men. Now, not only am I FIRMLY against abusive relationships regardless of gender, and a STRONG believer in gender equality, I also fucking HATE the double standard that if a man so much as conks a woman on the head for being a bitch, he's an abusive maniac, end of story, but a woman can just beat the living shit out of a man and that'll be perfectly okay. I fucking HATE that. I mean, now, if a guy's just going to start beating up on a woman and he was completely unprovoked, and he's just being an asshole, than yes, he's an abusive douchebag. And if a woman conks a man upside the head for being a jerk, than yes, that's okay. The guy had it coming. But come on, that works both ways! If a woman's just beating up on a man just because she's a bitch, than she too, is an abusive cunt. And If a man simply conks a woman upside the head for being an insufferable bitch, than yes, that's also okay. The chick had it coming.
But anyway, I'm getting off-topic. This little rant isn't about the actual video. Oh no, it's about one of the comments on said video. Oh good God... *Another deep, pissed off sigh*

I was looking through all the clubs on this site, and do you wanna know what I discovered?

• The Orihime Inoue fanclub has at least 200 more members than The Orihime Haters Club.
  
• The We Love Shirley club has at least 400 members than BOTH of the We Hate Shirley clubs combined.
  
• Both of the Kagome Higurashi Fanclubs have a shitload of members, whereas both Kagome hate-clubs have hardly any members.
  
• The Lenalee Lee Love club has about 70 more members than the Anti-Lenalee club.
  
• The biggest Sakura Haruno fanclub has about 340 or so members, whereas the biggest Anti-Sakura club has only 100-something members.
  
• There are at least five Hinata Hyuuga fanclubs, two or three of which have lots of members, whereas the closest thing this site has to an anti-Hinata club is the Anti-Naruhina club, which only has about 30 members.
  
• The Tohru Honda fanclub, entitled "A Riceball in a Fruits Baskett...", has over 200 members, and there are NO anti-Tohru clubs on this site whatsoever.
  
• The Greatest Girls of Anime club has finally surpassed the Get the heck out of my anime, woman! club in members.
  
• My ***Sweet and Sensitive Anime Girls*** club has 79 members, whereas the Anti-Cute Female Character club only has 30.

I did not originally write this. This was found on one of my friends' profile.

A teenage girl about 17 named Diane had gone to visit some friends
one evening and time passed quickly as each shared their various
experiences of the past year. She ended up staying longer than
planned, and had to walk home alone. She wasn't afraid because it was
a small town and she lived only a few blocks away.

As she walked along under the tall elm trees, Diane asked God to keep
her safe from harm and danger. When she reached the alley, which was a
short cut to her house, she decided to take it. However, halfway down
the alley she noticed a man standing at the end as though he were
waiting for her. She became uneasy and began to pray, asking for
God's protection. Instantly a comforting feeling of quietness and
security wrapped round her, she felt as though someone was walking
with her. When she reached the end of the alley, she walked right
past the man and arrived home safely.

The following day, she read in the newspaper that a young girl had
been raped in the same alley just twenty minutes after she had been
there. Feeling overwhelmed by this tragedy and the fact that it could
have been her, she began to weep. Thanking the Lord for her safety and
to help this young woman, she decided to go to the police station. She
felt she could recognize the man, so she told them her story. The
police asked her if she would be willing to look at a lineup to see
if she could identify him. She agreed and immediately pointed out the
man she had seen in the alley the night before. When the man was told
he had been identified, he immediately broke down and confessed. The
officer thanked Diane for her bravery and asked if there was anything
they could do for her. She asked if they would ask the man one
question. Diane was curious as to why he had not attacked her. When
the policeman asked him, he answered, "Because she wasn't alone. She
had two tall men walking on either side of her."
Amazingly, whether you believe or not, you're never alone. Did you know that 98 of
teenagers will not stand up for God, and 93 of the people that read
this won't repost it?

This is something that has bugged the hell out of me ever since I started getting into anime. For some unfathomable reason, so many people are convinced that female characters in anime are generally portrayed as weak, ditzy, useless damsels-in-distress... WTF?!
That has got to be one of the most ignorant, most untrue statements I've ever heard. Since when the hell are females portrayed that way?

"Strong female characters are few and far in-between"?
I can name tons of strong female characters off the top of my head:

And yet these girls get bashed and hated just because they don't kill people left and right!
I'm willing to bet that these people who bitch and moan about "stupid and weak and useless female characters" wouldn't last five minutes if they were put into the same situations that Orihime, Sakura, Kagome, Lenalee, and Relena are. The mere fact that these girls are able to stay alive, keep their sanity, and provide emotional support should be proof enough that they're strong women.

That said, another popular source of female character hate comes from what I am currently convinced are the scourge of the wonderful world known as the internet:
Fangirls.
Those rude, immature, shallow, perverted, obnoxious, stuck-up, loud, pathetic, downright infuriating little banshees who are more interested in their own perverted fantasies than the actual show. These irritating little twits like to run around the internet bitching and moaning about how much they hate all female characters for either one of two bullshit reasons:

Bullshit Reason #1: The devil women - I mean fangirls like to claim that they are "in love" with certain male anime characters and hate the females that are, or could potentially become, romantically involved with them, and consider the girls "in the way." For example: "OMG I H8 SAKURA SHE SHOULD DYE 4 LIKIN SASUKE HE'S ALL MINE!!1!!1!!1ELEVEN!!!1!!1!!1"

Bullshit Reason #2: The hellspawns - Ahem, fangirls like to think that most Shounen anime is gay porn, think that all anime guys in said Shounen are gay for each other, and hate the females for "getting in the way" of their OMG BUTTSMEX WUV. For example: "ZOMFG I H8 DAT SLUT LENALEE I HOPE SHEH DYEZ 4 GETTIN IN DA WAY OF ALLEN AND LAVI'S TRUE YAOI BISHIE WUV!!!1!!1ONEONEONE!!11!1!1"

My Response to Bullshit Reason #1: GROW UP! Get a job, get a boyfriend, get a life, and stop spamming the internet with your misogynistic bullshit.

My Response to Bullshit Reason #2: Again, grow up! And while you're at it, realize that it's Shounen, NOT Shounen-ai. The only animes in which the main characters are gay are Yaoi animes, which by the way, the anime writers/mangakas make for the Yaoi lovers like yourselves. If you want to see two guys making out so badly, then watch them and quit trashing our fandoms! Sasuke and Naruto do not want to sleep together, L and Light do not have the hots for each other, Riku and Sora do not want to screw each other like bunnies, and Allen, Lavi and Kanda are NOT going to have a hot, steamy, Bishielicious threesome anytime soon or ever for that matter.

And for God's sakes, stop calling female characters sluts, whores and skanks! Those terms refer to women who sleep around with men (or women) left and right. A girl liking a boy, being his girlfriend/wife/fiance, or being prettier than you does NOT make her one. So the next time you point to a female character (or any female, real or not) and scream "Slut", "Whore", or "Skank", you better be ready to name one guy she fucked.
