inuyasha is a super nostalgic show but with it being super generic I wouldn't put it with the like of othe giants in the genre but it's one of my first anime so that's why I loved it as a kid

I think the main cast of characters are genuinely well-written and the comedy is pretty good, but the plot of the series is not nearly as good as its contemporaries in my opinion.

like I really have a hard time seeing past the number of times naraku has escaped and hidden somewhere new. the world isn't particularly well-developed so a lot of things can feel kind of inconsequential.

it's good though!!

I have quite the soft spot for InuYasha, but even I’ll admit that I’ve seen shounen that are way better than it. That being said, I think it’s still worth checking out today. Definitely one of the better shounen from the early 2000’s that’s aged pretty well.

I would say Inuyasha holds a rather special place compared to the couple you mentioned as well to others from its era. While it is not a short show especially compared to the seasonal anime so common now, Inuyasha is much more brief compared to shonen like Bleach, Dragonball Z, and Yu Yu Hakusho. Another unique trait is having a female protagonist since the show follows more of Kagome than Inuyasha though he definitely would qualify as the secondary protagonist.
For myself Inuyasha holds a place of nostalgia as well as rediscovery. Though I believe I may have seen an episode or two during its initial run I did not watch it in full till I heard about Inuyasha the final act, the final season that came several years later than the rest of the series. My rediscovery of anime happened at the start of the 2010s. I had seen some earlier on Toonami but college was when I truly got into the medium. The lighter episode count compared to Naruto convinced me to give it a chance.
I rate Inuyasha highly compared to the other shonen of that time that I have seen and highly overall due to it’s entertaining mix of action, romance, and humor. It also, to me, does not overstay its welcome and allow fans to become burnt out which is the reason why I dropped many of the other shonens from this era. It is a good recommendation for men and women another unique feature granted by its dual protagonist. The characters are enjoyable and the fact that the conclusion of the series gives them a satisfying end is a cherry on top of a great watch. All in all Inuyasha is a glowing example of a good shonen series while also representing it’s own niche due to how few series have given me a similar feel.

I might be a bit biased, but for me it is defenitely among Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, Detective Conan. It was one of my first ever anime, the characters are very well written and the story is very unique and thrilling. I just love it!

Quite a bit worse than most of the shonen series that released around its time. The action isn’t particularly good, and neither are the characters or the villain. The repetitive nature of the naraku encounters and annoying love triangle between Inuyasha, Kagome and Kikyo was a major detriment. The narrative isn’t particularly interesting. Character design is good. Sesshomaru is the only character I honestly enjoyed. The ending themes are honestly the only really good thing about the series.

I wouldn't mind them doing a remake of Inuyasha like they did with Kenshin.

@Lord_Cobi do you really want me to name 10 fantasy shounen anime? It's not that unique of a show... group travels together to fight lord of demons, brother. I never said I didn't like inuyasha it's not the greatest show of all time and not as good compared to other greats of its time in terms of story, action, and other areas. Doesn't mean I hated it

The best thing about this series were character designs and music.

However, other than that, Inuyasha was average at best. I was not a huge fan of the love triangle, love-hate relationship between Inuyasha and Kagome and Naraku being Villain Sue. At least Sango was decent.

Honestly, one of the weakest shounen I've ever seen. The plot drags, and drags, AND DRAGS. Every episode just felt monotenous and the same exact thing, over and over again. Kagome being useless and screaming Inuyasha, Inuyasha beating some boring filler villain or chasing after Naraku but always escaping because the plot just has to keep going for some reason. The battles just got so incredibly boring, I didn't care for the villains, the heroes were lame, and Kagome got really annoying at times.

I did a watch through of this with my server, and it was a big mistake. Near the end, we just wanted to get it over with, we were all just so tired of the monotony.

This anime made me never want to check out Rumiko Takahashi's other works, no offense to her, but this just left a permanent sour taste in my mouth.
