Looking for some anime where they battle or fight, but differently. Not with their hands and feet but fight/battle in different ways.

It can be roasting each other or a battle of the mind/wits/intelligence, just as an example or it could be like keijo (butt fighting)... as long as it's a type of battle or fight

Some more example pokemon battle with pets, yu-gi-oh battle with cards, beyblade battle with beyblades, initial D battle with cars, kaiji battle with gambling, air gear battle with rollerblades, food wars battle with cooking, phi brain battle with puzzles, etc...

@deg I was trying mostly to rule out most sports anime unless it really fit the idea of a battle or fight, like initial D and air gear were kinda like sport style but it was more on the streets illegally and wasn't really sport competition but rather like a real battle to see who was the best through racing. Maybe redline you could say was a bit similar to that too

Aside from Pokémon and maybe Yu-gi-oh, the argument could be made that all those examples are essentially sports anime in that they involve a competition rather than a straight up battle to the death situation. Chihayafuru is considered a sports anime but it’s a card game.

As far as anime that isn’t really a sports anime but involves fighting in a non conventional way, No Game No Life. Maybe Death Note.

Sleeping is a sport, in one episode. They also fight, but in the kid's way of talking about their super powers.

If piloting a giant robot using a guitar isn't enough, Basara and group are using songs to make alien vampires fed while doing a planet dance in the middle of projectiles.

You can't pass dance competitions.

This one is similar but different from what you were after, you'll have diplomatic debate, writer story fights, merchant fight, dance fight, who does a dogeza first, naval fights and fight fights. Should be worth adding.

@zckfox they're sports, but taking the "sport" type of aspect away from it... Like what defines fighting as a sport compared to a violent duel to the death? First would be the environment and the rules. Initial D yes it's car racing, but kinda like on the street with less rules and still pretty much illegal. Kaiji is also underground illegal activities not really sport like despite being gambling. Air gear is the same it's pretty much like underground on the street, they can still get arrested for it if they're caught and they gotta hide from police and stuff. So to me I don't consider them really like the typical sport anime because the sport like aspect isn't really there... and I think Phi brain is like death battle concept never seen it though just heard it's like battle to the death a game death pretty much, like squid game type of thing same with kaiji too... Food wars it's just cooking and battling differently, not a sport so i'll let that one count. I like when there's more stakes or there's a risk of getting caught, when it feels more like a real battle, even death parade for example the stakes are quite high so it feels more intense when there's more to lose.

In "C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control" the fighting is mostly done by "Assets" which are a form supernatural companion / partner. Tho not exclusively... the duelists still can make direct attacks at each other.

Would tactical sci-fi navy battles count? The ships are girls. Like literally.
Arpeggio of Blue Steel -Ars Nova-

Ajin is another one but you already seen that one.

I don't know food wars so I can't really tell how much battle there actually is.
But I just had to think of Sugar Apple Fairy Tale
which has competitions in creating sugar confectioneries. Doesn't sound really exciting but the competition can play nasty and there is a lot on the line.

In/spectre is mostly a battle of wits, though you might not like it if you don't like bakemonogatari (depends on what aspect you dislike)

Death Note is the first thing that comes to mind, as it is a battle of wits between Kira and L.

Hmmm would Beyblade technically fit in this category? Or maybe Dual Masters. At least as far as the physical fighting goes.
