This really looks promising. I hope it keeps this up. The series needs another great season.

Needless to say, I loved episode 1. Can't wait for episode 2!

I enjoyed this episode, but it's gonna take me a while to get used to to Senjougahara's new hairstyle.
Hanekawa is still as cute as ever. xD
I can't wait to see the rest of the cast again.

Mostly likely the tiger played a role in the fire. I wonder if it's existence signifies something similar to what the cat did inside Hanekawa. I wonder what her original name(or surname), though I doubt that would play an important role in the plot.

Believe me... you will like the development with the tiger and I must say your hypotheis about it is close to what will happen :D. Though I won't spoil because that's rude and hateful ^_^U

No that you said it... I'm now also wondering about which was Hanekawa's true surname... I don't think it has appeared before ._.

I liked it, it was a decent episode and it looks like this whole business with the tiger will be interesting. I hope this season is better the Nise, I wasn't a huge fan of Nise, I thought the main story arc was kind of uninteresting compared to the first season and Neko. I can see this going somewhere, but it probably wont become clear for another episode or so.

Also the lack of Araragi was disappointing but all the head tilts made up for that. Looks like my summer is going to be pretty good.

I'm curious to this as well. I was assuming that the Tiger is in some way attracted to the bakeneko that is possessing Hanekawa. I know it is in a kind of dormant state(at least I think, might need to rewatch some of those episodes. Haven't read the novels). I'm guessing this might draw it out again. Especially judging by the OP which has her with cat ears, ext.

Nah not really, I mostly watch it for the interactions that they have with each other.

The tiger has quite the character and I think it will be interesting to see how he (?) will be potrayed in the anime though don't expect him to be easy-going with the cat even if they are of the same species.
This is not a major spoiler but expect the cat to appear... the opening is a foreshadowing of him too (Tsubasa's ears) and he's reallly likeable in this arc... Though I have always liked him :D.

I'm not trying to complain, the fanservice in this series is sexy, but I look at all these comments and they are pretty much only talking about the characters looks or pictures of the couple of scenes where Senjougahara's in her underwear. Is that the main reason you guys like this series?

No, at least for me. What I love about this series is it's compelling dialouge, interesting characters, their intriguing interactions that makes you get glued to the screen, the witty humor, Senjougahara Hitagi ( I doubt I would love it as much if she wasn't in the series), the romance no matter how little it is, SHAFT amazing directing and art, etc. The fanservice/ecchi is done rather spectacularly compared to other anime but it's still not in my top reasons for loving the franshise, I mean I gave bake a 10 and Nise a 7.

I'm already hooked the giant white tiger such a beautiful spirit, Her house burning down what mystery, and the protagonist Missing possibly at war with other spirits. Also Senjougahara sure has changed what character development. Its like even though we haven't been watching them, their lives have continued this series is truly amazing.

Agreed, and I know there's more then just a few of us. I wasn't trying to do the "am I the only one" thing. Just was a bit surprised that almost no one was discussing anything else. One thing I especially like about the series is how they deal with supernatural elements, how it all just blends perfectly due to the dream like style of direction Shinbou uses. The dialogue is also great, which is only amplified by the characters. I was somewhat worried this would be another Nise due to the cover art and the pictures posted, but I see the arc with this tiger getting pretty serious. I can't freaking wait for Kizu, that trailer has had me going crazy since it was released.

I see people talking about having read the novels, I had thought only one of the stories was translated (Kizu if IIRC). Are all of them translated, or are you guys just reading kanji or some translation other then english?

Kizumonogatari, Neko Black, and Neko White (current arc) are fully translated. There are only partial translations after that, though.

Well Shaft certainly knows the difference between "sexy" and "bewbs hurr hurr". Most other shows rely on doing detailed panty shots, or just throwing boobs into every frame. Or that good ol' show the butt crack trick. Shaft kind of does that, but they make it so much more sexy and refined. It has a lot to do with what the characters are actually saying at that moment, and the characters themselves, rather then just the fact you can see their underwear or boobies. Still, I prefer the show the most during its serious moments.

Edit: Thanks for that info on the translations.

Bit's and pieces are translated. This arc, Nekomonogatari shiro is fully translated along with Kizumonogatari and Nekomonogatari kuro. Other than that only a couple of chapters are translated from each arc and around 2/3rds of bakemonogatari volume 1 is translated, which is a shame because I really enjoy the LN.

Kizu was the first to be fully translated and was finished either while Bake was airing or shortly after (not really sure, especially with the web only release for some of Bake's episodes) and while some of what was in Bake is translated, it's not complete so that was basically skipped because of the anime (along with Nise which is also only partially translated) and then Nekomonogatari was done (which is of course half prequel (black) and half sequel (white). I don't think it's the same translator for all of them, though.

I want the Kizu movie so bad because it's easily one of my favorite parts so far, but there has been absolutely no news about it since it was announced for (lol) 2012.

In case anyone doesn't know, chronologically it's Kizu > Neko Black > Bake > Nise > Neko White and so on.

It was really a good start!
Senjougahara: Don't call me "this chick"
Araragi: Then what should I call you?
Senjougahara: Senjougahara-sama.
Araragi: SEN - JOU - GA - HAA - RAA - SAA - MAA
Senjougahara: I don't like the way you say it. Say it properly.

I wouldn't call it fanservice in the same sense as other shows. The light novel was written the same way.

Also none of the series is as "pervy" as Nise. That's for sure, Nisso wrote that one more for himself so the vibe overall was a little different.

That's what they were throwing out, though Hitagi clearly stated she doesn't feel the way Kanbaru does.

I really think Senjougahara has become a slyer version of Kanbaru... I mean seriously? "Let's take a shower together because I want to see your naked body." I head "yuri" screaming in the back of my head as I saw both girls strip in slow-mo. That may never actually happen in this show, but the implications were obvious. I suppose that's just another morsel of the oodles of fanservice to be expected from this second season of Monogatari.

Despite all that, the scripting was top notch as expected from Monogatari. I love how formal Hachikuji is and never expected see Hanekawa and her together after their short encounter in Mayoi Snail. Seeing the intense dere side of Senjougahara was also a bit of an interesting shocker, but makes me wonder what kind of connection both Hanekawa and Senjougahara share.

Looking forward to the next episode. Great visuals and direction; sasuga Shinbo.
