| I've reached a point where it'll be easier to point out when there's actually some episode that isn't brilliant, haha. Yeah, brilliant episode. No surpise. Tsukihi's best episode too, I feel, really loved all the stuff she talked about, definitely really changed how I look at everything with Sengoku. Delinquent Sengoku was super fun, haha. Also, while I figured it wasn't a Meddlecat situation as she was still clearly conscious, I think it was super clever to use music we associate with Meddlecat or similar situations, smart way to toy with our expectations! Also, that ending, ahh. Really, you are able to view one really simple difference this series has to other harem anime and see what makes Monogatari work where the genre's usually really bad, or, passable when at their best. In this series, you don't have the main character fucking around with making decisions. Simple as this but really effective in shaping the story to actually be engaging rather than silly when in regards to the harem side of things. This season especially, wow! Hanekawa being rejected, Sengoku learning her feelings will never be mutual, you don't see this sort of drama in other harems. Obviously hundreds of other aspects on what make Monogatari incredible but as a harem, it literally solves the genre's biggest issue while also being amazing outside of that. |
