| The movie is a mashup of Harlock stories with some filler characters added in, Yama for example. But you're asking about the show, huh. That makes absolutely no sense to me, the movie pales in comparison. |

Start with the original or arcaida of my youth (i think arcadia of my youth is much more of a prequel and has a more detailed background story, though need to be confirmed...I didn't watch it yet.) Then watch the original and Niibarungu no Yubiwa right after that. Herlock completly retells the story of Harlock and you can watch it without watching the original though I recommend you to watch it after you watched the original |
