THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Episode started off well, then went off the rails as soon as Mr Exposition showed up with his ridiculous hot chocolate. I'm willing to go along with it as long as they keep the world consistent, i.e - Earth Cult members in the streets, more background on the Empire's defeats, etc.
"I'm starting to think mal is run by Xinil generating electricity on a bicycle." - idklol

slow start. Looks interesting
"...our faces marked by toil, by deceptions, by success, by love; our weary eyes looking still, looking always, looking anxiously for something out of life, that while it is expected is already gone – has passed unseen, in a sigh, in a flash – together with the youth, with the strength, with the romance of illusions.” - Joseph Conrad ('Youth')

I personally really liked this episode.
First of all I was waiting for some Kircheis solo action and it seems like it's here. Also I liked "Mr Exposition" , at elast he seems to be the intelligent character in a higher position in this gaiden so far.
I probably regret this post by now.

Exposition is just fine, as long as it makes sense in the situation it is in. And, it did here.

Yey it's just Kircheis! ♥_♥ But another detective story like the last arc?

Ah what the hell am I complaining? It's Kircheis! Nuff said. ♥♥♥

Coz he's right here! ...and he's fresh out of mercy.

This arc seems promising, it will be nice to see Kircheis take center-stage for once. The scene when the superintendent convinced Kircheis to co-operate with the police by showing him the effects the drug had on an addict's offspring reminded me of the scene in "The Third Man", when Major Calloway shows Holly Martins the effect Lime's diluted penicillin had on the children in the hospital.

Reinhard preferring Lohengramm instead of Musel makes him even more complex; even Kircheis admits to not knowing him fully.

Why in the world would someone like Kircheis go to Sin City for holidays? o.O I know Reinhard was supposed to be there, too, but even for Reinhard, that place is an odd vacation destination.

Finally, the nerve of that man to tell Kircheis about how that book would make a great vacation read, when he'd basically just stripped Kircheis of his vacation! *sigh*

Hrmmmm, so, they are on a giant Las Vegas? And Drug Trafficking is their biggest problem? I mean, they even have prostitution as being legal, so one would assume that the biggest cause of concern (and hardest to mediate) is human trafficking, but oh well.

Mr. Exposition is still better than the incompetent higher ups we've been getting, and on his own he isn't bad. I didn't even think of the Earth Cult tho, but they're probably the force behind this

Both are means to the end of satisfying certain pleasures so drug trafficking could make sense, especially since the aforementioned drug is supposed to produce copious amounts of euphoria with extreme side effects.
"I like young-girl sexual creations, Lolicon is just one hobby of my many hobbies," he says.
I ask what his wife, standing nearby, thinks of his "hobby".
"She probably thinks no problem," he replies. "Because she loves young boys sexually interacting with each other."

With this episode begin the arc "A Hundred Billion Stars, A Hundred Billion Lights".

In this arc we can watch a great big battle.
For me the best, is that appear Yang too, but very relax :(

First time (accidental because the website I was watching this on classed this as episode 1 of the gaiden)
Well the opening narration lives up to the arcs name.

"Dirtbag nobility or personal bias. I'll chose personal bias, musels are the worst!"

Is this a themepark version of America (bald eagle, Niagara falls)?

Prostitutes all around, Terraist with grim reaper and not-Annerose.

Chronologically after My Conquest is the Sea of Stars, Reinhard has been promoted and is awaiting his change from Müsel to Lohengramm

As demonstrated in the A Hundred Billion Stars, a Hundred Billion Lights arc, Siegfried is profound at hand-to-hand combat. Dwelling deeper into the effects of the Thyoxin drug also mentioned in that arc.

Finally a Kircheis arc. Didn't want to go on vacation and ended up getting involved in a case. What luck xD

A solo Kircheis arc! I'm excited !
But Also I just want to say I would have been perfectly content watching an arc of Kircheis trying to enjoy his holidays alone. lol
That was good that was good that was good....
