| I'm Daisy, 25 years old. I'm currently a Computer Science student. I'm supposed to take a degree in Game Development (since I really love arts)... but I decided to take it after I finish CompSci. Don't ask why.. it's a long story. Drawing, reading, writing and playing the piano are my favorite hobbies. I love anime since I was kid. I rarely read manga since I have a hectic schedule... in that case, I prefer reading light novels. What else? I don't do cosplays (so expensive) but I love attending anime/cosplay conventions just for fun. I'd like to learn Japanese and be fluent at it. In the past, I was into drawing way more but now I don't as much, but that's more because of my wide range of interests and some real life issues. | Hajimemashite, minnasan. I see that many of you are newbies to MAL (like me). The name is Zurel, I answer to Zu and Zuu as well. My gender is up to your speculation, I can be either. I am 24, 99% of you peeps are younger than me, so follow my lead my little lambs😆 I do not meet the specification of this club. I am not serious about being mangaka. My aim is at most comic strips and 8-page comic which is standard for oneshots in my country. I have 2-year worth of experience, and I am here to help you big dreamers by sharing knowledge and experience, as well as resources. I am a traditional artist. I use watercolour (both palette and tube) and watercolour pencil mostly, as well as colour pencil. I also use COPIC markers and pastel, but rarely. Basically it is the combination of all these materials, as I see fit. As for digital painting, I am a beginner. I use Wacom Intuos4, Photoshop CS6, PaintoolSAI on my lap top, and Autodesk Sketchbook and ArtFlow on my Samsung Galaxy Note. I spent plenty of time on my Samsung, consequentially I am way better at using the sketchbook apps than my Wacom. Hopefully I can be of help around here. |
| ^ Ah, but I'm older. I suppose I must be the 1%, huh. So where's my billions at, eh? Ah, but jokes aside, hello good folks! I'm Jackdaw, or at least that's what I usually go by online (was taken on MAL so I ended up using an old, old nick). I used to be very active in junior high. Dreamt of becoming a professional cartoonist and drew things everyday. Ended up getting into making video games and music instead in high school and forward instead, so I've been inactive for about 8 years now, but I recently started up again. Burnt out on making games so went back to drawing again. Feels a bit weird, my skills are about the same as they ever was, but I seem to lack that endless creativity and spontanity I had in my youth. Maybe it'll come around. My style is quite old school as well. Pen and paper in a relatively clean and minimalistic style. I usually just work with Faber-Castell pencils and finish by inking with calligraphy pens of various sizes, then erasing the pencil lines once the ink sets. I draft the comic layout first on sketch paper then draw the final version on quality drawing paper. For details I often make use of cross-hatching techniques. Anyway, I'm not a very active artist, but I might contribute a piece once in a while. Quite busy with studying Japanese, reading and doing research. Either way, よろしく (yoroshiku) and all that. I'll be sticking around for a while. |
