| THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- Damn, what a sad ending. His hatred and inferiority complex drove him this far, only for him to die. There's a lot of symbolism to nitpick at, but I really like how they showed all of the character's moving on especially Ryo's sister. I think from the first chapter the ending would be something like this, but I still hoped for an ending where Ryo lived -- but ironically when he started to become better in a moral sense he in contrast became weaker physically. The thing that kept pushing him was his hatred, and when he started losing that he was in a slump... |
| I knew that this would happen but i didnt want to accept it. He knew that he was marching to his death but he would win against death. Truly a fitting ending for such a villain. Deep down he was a good guy but for all those year he was hidding behind violence but in the end he started to remember the happiness that life can offer and that made him realise all the harm he has caused during his journey. What a magnificent ending, i couldnt see a more fitting end. |

| Damn, talk about contrast between how well the series was doing pre ~chap 200 and post that. The whole mangaka internal issues sure buried this potentially great series. Until ~ chap 200 it was building up to be a masterpiece on par with something like Holyland. There were more flaws overall but it was going well. Heck, if it simply ended with Sugawara match or at worst a rematch - it would still be a very solid ~8-9/10 series. But 200+... addition of some fantasy elements, techniques that exist for 1 scene only and are forgotten going forward, the crappiest attempts at humor imaginable, nonsensical characters. Storylines abandoned midway, pointless new characters, an ending which could be played out MUCH better. Yeah, the concept of ending was solid - unlike traditional 'grand rival' ending we got a sudden death of MC. Things don't always go as one wishes. That could actually be a really well done ending if done correctly. The downside is it was against some utter nonsensical duo that one could hardly treat seriously... just like the final ~150 chapters in general. Wouldn't be surprised if it was actually a forced axe of the series and the possibility of the ending being 'good' is only due to that forced axe too. But that would be one of few series I would certainly be happy with getting an axe in that case. I guess something between a weak 2/10 and mid 9/10 would end up close to ~5/10, eh. I must surely commend whoever bothered with finishing the TL for this, bearing through translation of ~150 chapters worth of total dumpster fire must have taken an immense amount of effort. I was puking my guts out just by reading it through. |
