An okay episode, not too much different and the melodrama wasn't that good either, but in general it was pretty decent! Let's see what's next.
At least the girl survived, but it's a shame that she won't leave the planet. Just what will she do there? Drink from the spring, and control the elephant too? :P
The way they were insistent on saving someone who doesn't want to be saved at the beggining of the episode reminds me of quite a lot of situations in anime, almost none of which end up better than otherwise.
Was the explorer really convinced that he could take down the elephant with his gun? What was his plan, to find it, then die?
The way they killed of Natz was funny IMO. The show really went out of it's way to say "Natz is a realist, but don't be a realist, 'cause they steal, are selfish, and get their comeuppance".
Also, veering off course to rescue people that
1 - Don't state they want to be rescued
2 - Will be difficult to find
3 - Are not passengers of the 999 and most likely would not be allowed on the train (and would even be executed for this) if they boarded normally
Makes no sense. Especially since it seems like the 999 can make up a day (24 hours, I guess?) like it's nothing. Isn't the train supposed to go from one planet to the next as fast as it can? Why would it be taking it's time? I ignored the detours to the bandit's house, to the war machine planet and when the train was suspended in mid-air over the gold city waiting for Tetsuro because those were a matter of a few hours, not a day + detour, and I figured they might have found shortcuts in space (IDK about the logic, but it happens in some shows). We now know that the 999 always has the same path (per the living moving planet episode), so even though it's less applicable there, "making up the time" makes no sense.
Oh, also, yeah, the elephant from One Piece most likely has nothing to do with this one. I don't see the similarities, other than being big elephants. I think they both take their inspiration from the elephants that are carrying the world in (I think) hindouism. Said elephants are on a turtle, and world turtles are also a thing in a few media.
