The Ghost in the Shell
| Ok so I was looking into anime to watching for some challenges and I noticed that on here that Arise was a prequel to the 2015 Movie - The site has then the 1995 movie as a alternate setting to the 2015 movie. However when you go on the 1995 page it has the 2015 as a prequel?? Is the watch order; GitS Arise (Series has the extra stuff with Pyromania) ---> GitS (2015) ---> GitS (1995) or GitS 2.0 ---> GitS 2: Innocence? How does Arise lead into the 2015 movie? I know the end of the 2015 movie leads straight onto the beginning of the 1995 movie (at least when I watched it, it looked exactly the same). Thanks :) |

Thanks :) I believe Arise is a prequel to the Stand Alone Complex universe. The 2015 movie is a continuation to the plot of the Pyrophoric Cult episode of Arise, and ties up loose ends from that arc. |
| Yeah, the suckily titled Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie from 2015 deals with wrapping up plot elements from Ghost in the Shell Arise like the Firestarter virus and should be watched after GITS: Arise. As for how you should watch them, personally I think the Stand Alone Complex series/movie are the easiest to get into. 1st Universe: Ghost in the Shell Ghost in the Shell 2.0 (remastered version of of the above movie) Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence 2nd Universe: Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex Ghost in the Shell: The Laughing Man (compiles the above series) Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig Ghost in the Shell: Individual Eleven (compiles 2nd Gig) Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society Not sure where the Arise stuff fits in but: Ghost in the Shell Arise OVA Ghost in the Shell Arise: Alternative Archetecture (televised recut of the OVA with an additional arc) Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie |

| I highly recommend that you begin with the two main movies in the order that they were released. Watch GitS (1995) > GitS 2: Innocence and then do whatever you want srs. |

| watching it in the airing order is for the best most of the newest entry in the franchyse are not that good as a hook for the series |
