why rating so low?

LOL I just finished watching it... Well, to try to answer your question, I would say that the rating is low because Argento Soma is a really unconventional anime in a lot of ways — and for the fact that the first episodes are really weird/hard to digest (especially if you compare the beginning to where the narrative was driven to later). In a way, Argento Soma is in the same alley as animes like RahXephon and Gasaraki — and, by saying this, I don't mean that they necessarily share themes, directions or whatever, but that they all are a special kind of hidden raw shaped gems that shine it their own ways, but that are also naturally hard to appreciate because of the faults they reveal (and, for that, you can't exactly blame people for not liking it that much).

I think Redfield is spot on, especially with the shows they mentioned. It does some weird narrative things that can be tough to get past, especially if a viewer is more accustomed to more standardized shows.

this show is criminally underrated. being unpopular one can understand as it doesn't have a very large target audience and doesn't appeal to generic anime fans.

It is shocking to find how many people do not believe they can learn, and how many more believe learning to be difficult.

just finished watching, this anime is awful, the twist on episode 20 is so bad it's funny.

it was a 5/10 for the first few episodes, then became 4/10, but with the twist i had to drop it even further to 3/10
