Great episode and also very interesting to see a lot more backstory of the three most important characters of this story. While the main part of this episode was amazing and really cute (Mayu was just too cute :3) but that ending sure was dramatic!

That said it does seem they switched up the story in the Ginga Tetsudou 999 movies where Tetsurou actually sees him dying alone on a planet. (But somewhat it was expected as that movie is also different from the main series (timeline was did not match with the rest of the series)).

All in all it was a very amazing episode! Looking forward to see what's next.

I'm a bit dissapointed by mad Emeraldas decision to part with the child and follow the space tomb. She was quite reasonable and self-controlled till then.

So they just needed to get off the planet. So why exactly Tochirou was their final hope? I can understand no one wanting to save the pirates, but they had their own ship.

Agreed with this. Dumping Mayu on Harlock and going off into space with the tomb of her dead lover? Honestly a very strange decision to just abandon her daughter like that.

I was disappointed about Emeralda abandoning her child just because his husband died, I get its hard to lose someone you loved so much but just leaving everything behind (specially Mayu I feel so sorry for her) like that was just selfish.
I'm so mad the story did this to her character, I really liked her till this point.

The past two episodes have been really great, but we never got to find out how Tochiro ended up becoming "the soul of the Arcadia" and inhabiting the ship's main computer. It doesn't seem to simply be meant to be a symbolic thing either, considering the Mazone analyzed that there were 42 sentient beings on board the Arcadia in spite of there only being 41 human members of the crew, Harlock included.

So, we see the Arcadia on its maiden voyage, in which Tochirou died on. It was really unfortunate.

Emeraldas couldn't fathom leaving Tochirou's side, so she left her daughter in Harlock's hands, and chased the space tomb. A mother abandoning her child is pretty shocking, but I believe that Tochirou's death broke her inside, and I guess she knew Harlock well enough to trust him with Mayu.

I wonder, will Emeraldas ever see Mayu again?

This is a sad episode.
Especially for Mayu.
She can't grown up with her mother because of the "last" wish of Tochirou.

And Emeraldas wants to follow Tochirou...

We find out more about Tochiro. A tragic end for him (and Emeraldas), but it seems like there's still more we don't know about him and the Arcadia. Will it be explained before the end of the series?
