Minos no Beef 100% is a spin-off of Jashin-chan Dropkick manga, featuring the character Minos as a main character. 6 chapters serialized between 2018-2020 to complete one volume. It has a different author than the main manga, in the name of Yuki Shushu.
It may look baffling as to how and why was this manga published, Jashin-chan is not that popular, sure, it had two anime adaptations but no one talks about it, it's just a random comedy manga with cute demon girls and Minos is not that interesting as a character to generate her own series. But that doesn't matter, if it exist, let's talk
...
about it.
Basically Minos (a demon cow girl) goes to random restaurants with her cute demon girl friends to eat beef (and other kinds of meet), drink beer, talk about meat and different meat frying styles. Don't underestimate Minos, she's a BBQ connoisseur and an expert in meat in general and she'll talk about it all manga.
Where Jashin-chan was a dark comedy manga, this work is a cute variant of it, all characters have the same personalities as in the main series but crazy things don't happen, Yurine doesn't bludgeon Jashin-chan and Jashin-chan doesn't play pachinko or attack random people on the street because she has haters on twitter. The only fanservice is BBQ fanservice and some Minos ecchi fanservice.
Imagine your favorite characters from a manga you like entering a BBQ bar, this manga is 100% like that (pun intended). But of course, something has to be sketchy here, who wants to read about characters eating? All chapters and almost all scenes, the characters have to make an impression while eating, so everything is exaggerated.
"Oh, it's so good it melts in my mouth!", "I've discovered Nirvana!", "this hamburger has evolved beyond what's considered normal" "...it's glittering like a jewelry box!"
And many many more of that, lots of weird metaphors and epithets, the girls are swooning like they're having an orgasm, it's pretty annoying even for a big fan like me. Incredible how all meat tasted delicious, how come there was no bad meat? I demand a scene where Minos says "this meat is garbage, let's go some place else" but it never happens.
I read this because I am a fan of this franchise and Minos is my favorite character from it, so it was good fanservice for me, Minos was very energetic and cute and I would love to see more of her in the main manga, and also, those sexy shots on Minos were a feast for the eyes.
For Jashin-chan Dropkick fans, we get to see a different group of girls every chapter, one time is Minos with Jashin-chan, one chapter is Minos, Medusa and Yurine etc, you get my drift (Minos is always present), we even get to see the crazy lesbian police woman.
The mangaka made a really good job in recreating the character designs, the girls look about 90% as Yukiwo's (mangaka of Jashin-chan Dropkick) drawings, and for the people who didn't read Jashin-chan, the characters have big eyes, cute looking (moe style), they're petite, think about K-On and stuff like that. The backgrounds are impressive, it consists of restaurant interiors and it sure looks good. The food looks decent, it looks like food but nothing out of the ordinary stylistically speaking.
It took me one hour or so to read it, it's a very easy read, I even drank some beer and ate a bit of stake leftovers to get the full experience and I recommend all meat lovers to do so, it doesn't matter if you read/watched Jashin-chan, read this manga if you like BBQ meat.
