People have trouble trying to analyse history from a rational POV, especially when it involves race-related stuff.
I think it's a mix of both. Europeans were no saints sure, but like you've said, they've also improved the infra-structures. Lots of the bigger cities in Sub-Saharan Africa were built by Europeans. And the world we live in today has been molded by European imperialism, pretty much. The tribal system of African societies is a thing they're trying to get rid off considering it holds them down(so many genocides and ethnic tension in Africa).
I can understand Africans resenting Europeans, especially older ones but Latin Americans resenting European colonialism which left their countries 200 years ago or nearly is just sad.
Btw, when Portugal fought the Colonial War to keep its African colonies many locals fought alongside Portuguese soldiers and many of them also helped their Portuguese bosses escaping at the end. So if the colonisers were that "evil" surely that would not have happened, right.
One thing that annoys me and is hypocritical is how people love to point fingers at what bad things white people did in history but disregard what other races did. As if we aren't all capable of doing evil things.
Really? Thought there was a growing number of very poor whites in South Africa. Guess I was wrong.
I guess in some parts of Africa the aversion to whites is still strong due to colonialism and such. I really don't know about most of Africa but in Mozambique they still bear big aversion against the Portuguese and Portuguese who lived there for a while said they saw lots of that and that in some areas you even risk getting shot dead. Plus, lots of times, it's the corrupt governments distracting people from the real problems, using colonialism as the eternal excuse for every problem. Hell they still use that excuse in many parts of Latin America and those countries have been independent for 200 years or almost.
Not much is known about the Boer/Afrikaners people I fear. I guess they have a bad reputation and the world views them as hardcore racists and blames them for Apartheid. Afaik many White South Africans live in extreme poverty. And being White in that country can b dangerous. As it also is in Zimbabwe.
Afrikaans is an interesting language. A mutated form of Dutch.
Sometimes on MAL and other forums I see people use joke avatars and signatures, so I was wondering if your signature was some sort of inside joke I was missing.
Hell there's people who have fake locations in their profiles for the lulz(ex: North Korea).
So yeah, curiosity. Tbh South Africa seems like an interesting country as do the Boer people for that matter.
