I wonder why discord became so popular. I guess it's because it's basically just a glorified forum for people can make chats about anything. I honestly never understood it's popularity. 🤷♂️
I see. So it sounds like your situation with this website was kind of similar to mine. I think it was around 2017 that I started to lose interest in MAL, and would only log in like once a year or so after that. Then once 2019 hit I stopped logging in all together. I don't know, then around 2024 I started feeling nostalgic for this place, that and the fact that I was starting to watch anime a little bit more at that point. So I decided to check out the site and see what was new. I really do like the new profile badges they implemented. I was really sad to see that so many people that I used to talk to on this website seem to have completely abandoned the website. Also for some reason there was a lot of people posting rip on people's profiles who hadn't logged in in a long time. XD
Oh interesting, I bet that really kept you busy during the covid era. Since you are well versed in this area, do you happen to know are we still required to take booster shots? I don't hear many people talk in about it anymore so I always wondered.
That could be part of it I agree. I think it also comes down to the fact that traditional forums just aren't as popular. I heard of another website called Annie list that people say is better than MAL. Hey and speaking of covid I've been curious, did you log into MAL during that era? I never did, so I was wondering if the site was booming during that era. I assume it was.
Yes I did make a discord finally, but I hardly ever use it. XD are you big into it?
Well I'm very happy to hear you've been keeping well. Sounds like you're quite the busy bee these days. What kind of odd jobs have you been doing if you don't mind me asking? I know it can be hard to find your niche sometimes. Maybe something related to one of your hobbies might make a good career. That's what I did when it came to cooking.
Yeah my anime watching has slowed down considerably since back in the day. I still try to find time to watch when I can though. Speaking of time, one thing I couldn't help but notice when I returned to MAL was just how much slower the activity on this website has become. Especially compared to the old days. Makes me wonder if places such as discord have really killed traditional forums like this.
Coolspot!!!! Bro yes I remember you, it's really been some years! Yeah I took a pretty long anime hiatus there for a while, and only returned back to this website recently last year. I'm really glad to see there are still some old school members left who still log in. How have you been buddy? :)
Hey, what's up. I haven't heard from you in a while. I got your DM about the Discord server, but I just haven't gotten around to making an account yet. Personally, I like the 2000s version of Ah! My Goddess better than the remake. I just prefer the older aesthetic over the newer one. Also, who's the character in your profile picture? Just wondering.
Can't really remember when I first watched it (probably late 90's on DVD), but I've rewatched the series and the movies a few times over the years. My personal favorite of the franchise is and will continue to be the Patlabor 2 movie. Patiently awaiting the next entry, Patlabor EZY, but hoping (probably fruitlessly) that it won't be full CGI (not a fan) like the "movie" Patlabor: Reboot was.
As time has gone by I've found that I prefer the subbed versions over the dubbed ones. All to often, while the English VA's for various series have done a fair job, it feels like they're overacting when they do some parts. Particularly when it's a "law enforcement" series or movie. Mind you, I've run into that same feeling with the original cast members as well, on occasion. Either overbearing for the male parts (think: Dirty Harry) or almost schreechy (think: fingernails on chalkboard) for the females.
I'm in the same boat nowadays, but my taste used to be more restricted some years ago. Now there are more artists in my group of preference, and lately the ones in my playlists. The Who went here once in 2017, but I couldn't attend the concert and other ones in the same year. I saw Guns N Roses and Foo Fighters though; really enjoyed their performances. Lately, I was listening to Traffic and David Bowie. I never noticed how Winwood is a great composer.
That's really good to hear! What did the Duolingo founder have to say?
Also, we're getting really nice weather here this year as well, and summer came early for my area. It's currently around 80°F, which is hot for this time of the year, although that's probably not considered hot where you're from, lol.

I hope all goes well for you in 2025! And yeah, I'll be good, I think, ha hah!
Nice to meet, (Sadly I don't have Discord)

Hmm I don't think so... I don't use my full username on Discord. Only "Kitsu". What kind of songs do you like?
