I'm in love with these genres too and I'm really hyped for "In This Corner of the World" because I think it will be a much better movie as the hyped "Your name". I just don't understand why all love this movie, it has some good visuals and themes but I appreciate Shinkai's "5 Centimeters Per Second" a lot more.
I believe that, for a good story, there has to be a unison of all the elements of the narrative. So, to make a good portrayal of the themes, you need to have all your elements connected to it on some certain level.
Now, if we take your interpretation as the correct one, some of the things wouldn't make much sense. For example, the famous torture scene that even repeats a couple of times. As a representative of characters struggle while developing his art, it does a pretty decent job. But, if we make it present the 'love for someone based in your own perception and ideals', or even 'love for the real person and the acceptance of her virtues and defects', it wouldn't make much sense, since there'll be no reason for portraying such an element in such fashion. Not only does an image of the loved one crucifying the one in love have nothing to do with what I just quoted here, but it doesn't even stand as a good presentation of love in general, unless it's the one-sided one. The theory also has few more, but not really missable flaws, but I'm just to lazy to write them all down.
Of course, that is your own interpretation, and you should value it. It's just that i can't really see it as a valid one.
Anyways, about Cossette, i was actually planning to rewatch the show sometime soon, as i wasn't really in a mood for such a show at the time i saw it first, and didn't really appreciate it at times. I have probably missed some things, considering the fact that I was pretty much lost the first two episodes, and I think i'll have a better understanding of it after a rewatch. Who knows?
Pinguino 1 es mi favorito también!!!
Actually, your english is quite good tbh
Well, I always tend to look deeper into the concept of any kind of media, especially the anime since it's my current occupation. And I somewhat get a bit triggered when I see people observing just a mere surface of such a deep and well-written show. And that's not just the case for this specific show; very often I hear people saying that "Evangelion is just a good SciFi" or "Monogatari series is just a harem" or stuff like that.
Tho, I wouldn't really call Shinsekai yori a masterpiece, even tho it was quite close. There were still some stuff that weren't done as good, but it's still one of the best series I've ever seen. Believe it or not, I finished the entire show in ONE DAY :P
