Preliminary (5/15 eps)

I did not read the Manga ; did not want to get spoiled only watched all the Animated series from 1,2, Aiz Spin off , 3,4 series.
I have watched many Anime in the course of 20+ years ; and I am quite impressed by the plot twist and how the story evolves.
The most interesting battle is a battle of Love ; but when powers are involved that shifts the scale of the entire story ; taking the story to a next level

It is quite amazing how the story evolved and twists ; at first i was not sure where the plot was gonna go in ... season 5 ; from how it started ; but it brings multiple factors into play with a nice convoluted plot twist ; its hard to discuss without spoilers ; i prefer to not spoil it.

I think season 5 is taking a twist inspiration from Game of Thrones where the good side does not always win bringing in lots of factors that create a mix feeling for the audience.
It does show a lot of growth and evolution for the MC & the plot ; I personally like this twist ; its refreshing and feels new ; I was not expecting the story to twist to 180 in this manner of fashion.

So far the story brings a lot of ???? from past seasons creating a bit of extra mystery and questions answered ; dictating from what Hestia was thinking in her inner mind ( will let you find that out after revisiting season 1-4 )
I am looking forward to how the story of season 5 will turn up in the end and what more it will bring.

Preliminary (3/15 eps)

Welcome to the fifth season of DanMachi, also known as "The Harem Must Grow". It is the veritable Manifest Destiny of harem animes. The protagonist Bell-kun is divinely ordained to make every female cast member fall in love with him despite being a childlike Gary Stu. More seasons will follow until every single inhabitant of Orario without a Y chromosome is first rescued, and then neatly friend-zoned by him. Except, of course, for Ais Wallenstein, whose primary defining characteristic is being even more oblivious than Bell when it comes to romance. Truly, one of the harem animes of all time.

Having summarized all past, present, and ... future seasons of DanMachi, here's what you need to know about Season 5:

1) The new friend-zone candidate is stronger than previous ones, so the damsel-in-distress schtick has even less stakes than usual.
2) Even though the efforts to rob Bell-kun of his virginity reach new heights, he is as determined as ever to remain faithful to his oblivious crush.
3) The dungeon is just an afterthought. Think more cringy rom-com/slice-of-life and less combat. This could change, of course, but it seems like a definite downgrade compared to the last season, which, despite all the other shortcomings of the series, I had come to enjoy.

All in all, yet another season of the same. At this point, the rescue-then-friend-zone routine is getting so repetitive and the suspension of disbelief is so precarious that the anime feels more like a deconstruction of the harem genre. But I can assure you that was not the intention of the author.

To end the review on a positive (well, neutral) note: DanMachi Season 5 is exactly what it says on the tin. No better or worse than the the average season of DanMachi. If you watched the previous seasons, you know exactly what to expect. Caveat emptor.

-Is-It-Wrong-To-Pick-Up-Girls-In-The-Dungeon?-

POV: Is it wrong to decline all love interest in the Dungeon?

If this is not a harem anime, why they chose to go with this title?

If this is an Mc-driven story, why the hell we haven’t seen him develop and become stronger than a penknife thrower?

Bell Cranel is just incapable of picking up girls and level up from a pocket knife. He literally just an NPC since the second half of season one.

This show had the potential to be really exciting and different. It has some nice and interesting characters and even the plot was unique occasionally, but I am just tired ... to see that male Mc’s are acting weakling all the times in a romantic-action type of story like this.

You definitely don’t have to show x-rated scenes, but at least give us something rewarding to believe that this is what the title promised.

So far, it is quite the opposite.
