Peak '80s aesthetic? Check. Grimy Blade Runner setting, complete with a band called "Priss and The Replicants"? Check. Total babes? Check. Boomers? Check. Totally kicks ass? Check.
Everything has a beginning and an end. Life is just a cycle of starts and stops. There are ends we don’t desire, but they’re inevitable. We have to face them. It’s what being human is all about.
This film is quite refreshing due to it being an original story. The manga has been adapted countless times, across many mediums, so it is nice to close out the pentalogy with a great story not told.
Absolute masterpiece front-to-back. If you have ever seen any silent films in theaters they are intended to be accompanied by a live music performance. Interstella5555 feels like that in a futuristic way. A silent film accompanied by Daft Punk ripping such a monumental album over top.
An indescribably touching and beautiful film. Truly, not a single wasted moment from beginning to end; everything is cranked to 11 for the cinematic finale. Watching this again and again is a pleasure I look forward to. Ho-kago Tea Time's music has acquired so much special meaning for me. K-On! has cemented a place in my heart forever. <3
Studio Ghibli Fest 2024 - watched in theaters. Nausicaä is where it all started. Jaw dropping animation and story. The world building is absolutely enthralling. Love this film so much. I am so happy to experience it in theaters.
Watched this in theaters with no one else there... my own private screening! The vibes were immaculate. A fun film with great music and animation that certainly geared me up for the upcoming series.
Watched this at the Michigan Theater for the Benshi Attack! event. The Dull Sword is thought of as the progenitor of Japanese anime. It was masterfully narrated by Benshi Kataoka Ichiro with live music accompaniment provided by arwulf arwulf.
Studio Ghibli Fest 2024 - watched in theaters. Absolutely wonderful film in every single way. Have not seen it in many years. Made me cry multiple times. One of those films that just takes me way back.
What a journey. A magnificent space opera. Fellow Toonami kids, your memories don't betray you; Gundam Wing is every bit as good as you remember. Mission complete.
Tsutomu Nihei's works are pretty much unadaptable but DAMN did everyone pour their heart and souls into this. The last episode made me an absolute true believer.
Studio Ghibli Fest 2024 - watched in theaters. Another masterpiece. Beautiful animation as to be expected. The world, airships, and pirates are a joy to behold. A bit more comedy in this one!
