Yes VN fans I know this adaptation is problematic from your perspective. However, as an anime adaptation, ESPECIALLY a movie adaptation, which are more limited in the scope of their storytelling abilities than a TV anime

This trilogy does a fantastic job of ADAPTING (ya know, meaning to modify for a new purpose) the HF route into movie format for a wider audience that doesn't want to have to read a VN which, to many, are an extremely unattractive medium for consuming fiction. Yes, I know there are aspects that changed in ways that are objectionable even to VN fans that like the Ufotable adaptations. I don't really think those complaints are unreasonable, but I'll say that for non VN fans such changes do not detract from the experience.

Great looking movies. Good route that feels very different from UBW. I know not everyone likes the darker story, but I feel like even if the shock value is a bit over the top, the darker story is necessary for exploring Sakura's tragedy and subsequent insanity. I should add that I think Nasu's overabundant use of rape is beyond distasteful and that while I don't agree with the argument that rape has no place in works of fiction, I do think graphic depictions of it do not. Especially when it's serving the obvious ulterior use of being fetish content in Nasu's case.

Can't talk about the perceived shortcomings of F/SN without mentioning the VN. I have no doubts that the VN is overall a more compelling work of fiction. However, I'd argue that it's not unreasonable for 24 episode anime adaptation to dumb down some aspects of the plot and characters from a 60+ hour VN. Are all of the changes perfect and reasonable for the adaptation to make? I don't know, but I think that as it's done, from the perspective of an anime-only, the set pieces and writing of the series as a whole are enough to look past the issues with Shirou being a bit of a shounen trope in the anime

Aside from the core writing being good in Fate, Ufotable is famously good at making their anime visually stunning and Kajiura Yuki soundtracks are similar in regards to their quality. The Ufotable Fate adaptations are fantastic as an anime only and as a way of getting into the Nasuverse as a whole.

Please stop releasing 1 episode a year. This shit was awesome and having to wait for god knows how long only being drip fed episodes is shitty.

If you're an anime only, or you want to get into the Fate/Nasuverse without having to read a VN, watching the Ufotable adaptations in the order that they were adapted is the way to go. VN fans will screech about Zero containing spoilers for F/SN, but in the way they're adapted and presented it is a total non-issue. I know VN fans also take issue with Urobuchi's treatment of Saber as a character, and even as an anime only I can agree that her mindset and motivations as they're written in Zero are a bit stupid. However, I don't find that aspect of the writing to be detracting from the writing as a whole. I also know that VN fans take issue with the way anime fans glorify Kiritsugu, and I can agree with that but I don't think that's the fault of the show or Urobuchi. People are just edgy morons who don't realize he's being treated as an idiot being used the entire time.

Anywho long story short I think Zero is incredible despite its faults and is where people should start with Fate if they have no interest in reading a VN.

Can't really ask for much when it comes to Love Live writing. Its strength lies mostly in the casts and them being vaguely gay with each other on occasion. With Aqours being my favorite group I was going to enjoy this no matter what, and while the story could have probably been better, and I would have liked more performances, I enjoyed this nonetheless and can't complain.

Pretty standard isekai affair. Doesn't do anything to be insultingly bad like a lot of fantasy/isekai manage to do nowadays, but it also isn't very memorable.

The TV series has a bit more SoL going on than the movies and can feel a tiny bit slow sometimes because of it. The actual tank combat is obviously ridiculous but in an extremely fun way. WWII tank turbo nerds get a kick out of the variety and attention to detail in the tanks. Everyone with even a passing interest in WWII history gets a kick out of the comedic stereotyping of the country themed schools.

Twist and the really unfortunate SA scene aside, good story. good contrasting pair. The diary reading scene was great. Also the ending credit song is fantastic

My personal favorite LL group. Often criticized for being a copy paste of the plot of SIP, and for the girls being copies in many ways, but imo both the plot (lol) and the girls are improvements over the originals and at this point part of LL's charm is that it's the same basic plot and character archetypes, which Sunshine established precedent for. Everyone loves the leader orange girl. The grey-scale costume girl. The red musician girl. The stoic student council president that is initially opposed to the club but eventually joins. The fat 1st year in brown-scale. Love 'em.
