I watched this show dubbed into Chinese when I was little. I didn't even realize it was originally made in Japan at the time. I only remembered watching this show after registering here when I started to rack my brain for shows I'd seen.

I greatly enjoy the atmosphere of this show. It's very light-hearted and whimsical, as evidenced by the giant anti-virus program with a smiley face and hat that patrols the cyberspace of the town the show is set in among other things, yet it still has me sitting at the edge of my seat in intense anticipation of the next development. As if the awesome premise were not reason enough to watch this show, the most important thing I like about this show is how realistic the characters are. The main characters are young girls in 6th grade who actually act their age. You would think this wouldn't be such a big deal but most girls that age in anime seem to primarily exist to look cute while doing cute things and sell lots of toys. Denno Coil's characters aren't ones like that which is why I hold this series in such high regard.

I've long been a fan of Fuyumi Ono's Twelve Kingdoms so when I discovered that another one of her book series was being turned into an anime series I couldn't help but be excited. I am very impressed by the amount of research into supernatural phenomenon that was put into this series. I think anyone with an interest in the occult will be impressed as well. Each story arc is well written with a clear progression of cause and effect. The first arc is a little weaker because it's the meet and greet the characters arc but aside from that it is a solid series.

The plot resembles a generic jRPG plot. The animation is okay but the 3D integration was pretty terrible, as is typical of Gonzo. It's apparent that the writers of this movie have never cracked open a science text book. The magical trees and super humans I can live with since they are fantastical but the fact that none of the writers seem to know how volcanoes or that tidal forces should've pulled apart the fragments of the moon hours after it's explosion (hey this they could've learned by simply having watched Cowboy Bebop) is troubling.

This series started out so promisingly. Supposedly it's based on two books by Jules Verne but after watching as far as I have that claim is tenuous at best. I'm not sure where to begin listing all the things that are WRONG with the series, from Jane the cookie cutter Mary Sue, bad anime tropes, very dense characters, silly landship designs, ignorance of 19th century developments in flight, and ignorance about logical advances in technology in general. Jules Verne would be rolling in his grave if ever he learned about this.

This show is yet another wacky high school comedy that's become popular thanks to The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. It's got that same kind of self-referential style with little pop anime references like Haruhi and Lucky Star only much more morbid. This is one of the few series that has me laughing so hard all the time that I can hardly breathe.

The show gets points for originality, gorgeous music and art direction. That's the only positive things I can say about it. I find the characters unlikable, the pacing dull and plodding, and the plot full of holes. Also the frequent drops in animation quality and the fact that people's noses don't even look the same from episode to episode aggravates me.

I don't typically like to watch mecha so to say I greatly enjoy this series means a lot. It started out confusing and it took a few episodes before it won me over. This is a show that is really good at making you care about its characters and knowing how to tug on your heart strings. I don't typically like angst in anime and there is quite a lot of angst in this series but somehow the writers know how to manage it so that the viewer isn't completely buried by it. While the premise lacks originality *cough*Matrix rip-off*cough* it is one of the best written sci-fi anime series I have seen.

I don't really care for vampire anime series. I think the genre is overrun with lots of mediocre entries. Blood+ isn't one of those. Let me make this clear: I have never watched Blood: The Last Vampire nor do I plan on watching it ever so I don't care how it ties in with the movie. I like the bio-terrorism angle the show chooses to present its subject with. The series has some slow pacing issues and a few plot holes and inconsistencies but nothing great enough to detract from my enjoyment of the series.
