Rounded/Semi-Rounded Edges Tutorial
***Rounded Edges
1) Click the rounded rectangle tool. In this tutorial, I put 10px for the radius.
2) On your image, draw on the area that you want to keep.
3) After that, go to Layer>Rasterize>Shape. In the layers palette, you'll see that the mask is gone. By rasterizing it, we'll be able to move the shape layer as we hide this by clicking the hide/show (eye) icon on the layers palette.
4) Then, point your cursor on the box highlighted on the image below then press CTRL+left click.
5) This will load selection on the shape on your image.
6) Now you can move the loaded selection by clicking the move tool then press the arrow keys. This is not a necessary step, only if you want to change the area on the image that you want to keep unless you are satisfied with your first selection.
7) Next, go to Image>Crop.
8) In the layers palette, highlight the image layer then click the layer mask icon below it. After that, you can delete the shape layer.
9) Lastly, change the canvas settings by pressing ALT+CTRL+C so that you can view the image better when adding border, effects, texts and other stuff. I only added 10 pixels for width and height.
Note: You can also make a white layer below your image so that you'll know what your image looks like in a white background. Just hide or delete it when you're done.
This is my final image. The effects I did on this are stroke, inner and outer glow. :3
***Semi-Rounded Edges
1) Repeat steps 1-6 above. Radius: 35px.
2) Select the Rectangular Marquee Tool on tools menu then click the overlapping boxes on top.
3) Then draw two boxes as shown below.
4) Do steps 7-9.
5) Finally, you now have a perfectly semi-rounded shaped card. =D
