Three times now....
three times the same person got me to join a social site. how sad is that? and this time it wasn't a direct request. it just seemed simpler to see what she was recommending to me to watch then constantly googling everything.
methinks i might be a sheep. cause, including those the previously alluded three, the grand total of social sites ive joined because someone i know instructed me to is 8.
now that's so very sad, don'tcha think?
oh well, enough of that, lets get down to the meat and potatoes. animu.
originally got into it for the same reasons everyone else around my age did. after Warner Brothers canceled Freakazoid, Animaniacs, and Tiny Toons and turned Batman: TAS into a travesty and pictographically cemented it by giving Bruce Wayne blue eyes, Cartoons in the late 90's turned to shit. nothing but the same things over and over and over. we wanted something different. and, sure enough, Cartoon Network brought us that(although, to be honest, my first anime was Ronin Warriors. it used to come on Fox where i lived at about 9 in the morning on weekdays-i stayed home sick from school a LOT). There was something new and different on tv, something we were not used to. something that corrupted an entire age of children into weeaboo shits.
But, unlike most of the people on our shared Exodus into a new land of cartoon goodness, i began to realize that, even though it was different, anime had the EXACT same problems that plagued the shows we left.
THEY'RE
ALL
THE
FUCKING
SAME
I know im begging for flaming with that but it's true. I'f you're thing is situational action shows, where the focus is the fights themselves and less on character development you'll notice that every fight follows the same rules. good guy/s see villain, good guy/s fight villain, good guy/s get their buts handed to him/them, good guy/s remember something thier master taught them and come back int eh 11th hour and win.
if it's character based shows, all you see is character archtypes doing the exact same things in every show no matter what the subject matter is. you will always find the same characters. nerdy protag, overbearing fem who's hiding her real feelings, shy girl with hair in face, atheltic girl with soft side, pervy dude, and more then likely foreign girl
after a while you begin to get tired of it. and this sucks if you're like me and you'll watch any show, no matter where it's made as long as it has a good story and halfway decent direction. because those gems of pure originality are few and far between.
But, no matter how cynical i am, i still hold out hope that the next show i stumble across/jg rams down my throat(XP) will be the gem i'm searching for.
wow, that last bit kinda reminded me of Quantum Leap. the shocking part is it was involuntary.
BITCHIN!!
okay, i've been rambling for about 10 minutes now and i know damn well u derailed my train of thought something fierce. Blame my short attention span, my constant need to write the exact manner in which i speak, or the fact that i've been listening to Styx's Lady on loop the whole time. dont care. dont even feel like going back and reading over to make sure i at least didnt jump thoughts mid sentence.

Why?

.... yeah, i made an "uuugh" sound too
