Gwaahh, I'm sorry I'm so late with this reply. It's depressing that I end up saying that to people far more often that I should. >.<

Shoujo-ai = two girls falling in love.
Shounen-ai = two boys falling in love.
That was what I meant by the shoujo/shounen-ai thing. I don't like either of those genres, but romance in regular shoujo anime like Inu X Boku, Chihayafuru, Special A, KWMS, OHHC, or Clannad is awesome. ^_^

Ooh, you're all caught up with Inu X Boku SS and Mirai Nikki! What do you think of them so far? Or Chihayafuru and Bakuman 2 since we both just finished those.

I'll always love Bakuman. I rated it to a 9 and raised season one from an 8 to a 9. The chemistry for the characters is great. I can't wait for season 3 and I'm already hoping for a season 4! XD

Chihayafuru

What they said in the end of the video? *Goes to rewatch*
Amateur translation time!

Boy: Long time no see.
Girl: Yeah, long time no see.
Boy: You've been well?
Girl: *nervously nods* Yeah.
-music starts-
-music break-
Girl: I'm... getting married soon.
-music starts back up-
-song ends-
Boy: Shiawase ne? (You're happy, right?)
-Both walk away-
-Girl turns back-
Girl: Sayonara (Goodbye)

It goes with the song pretty well if you find the translation for the Japanese lyrics. The title "Kimi wo suki ni..." actually translates to "Why did I fall in love with you?"

So Kazandra-chan likes ballads! How about these?

Thanks for the compliment! I was actually thinking of changing my wallpaper pretty soon, haha. Do you want to use the one I have now and I'll change mine to something else? I could either send you a PM with all the codes you need like last time or I could take screen captures and do it that way if it's easier.

Iilia | Mar 11, 2012 8:51 PM
*Checks profile* It is your birthday! Happy birthday! :D

I just can't take shoujo/shounen-ai, whether it be IRL or in anime. It's way too weird for me. Even a small kiss would probably make me rate it down. Yeah, I'm cruel like that. :/

Do you think you'll watch much of anything this coming spring?

Here's my PTW list, but I probably won't watch a lot of what's on there:

And since I've been dying to share some music with someone lately, you're it! :P

Mirotic by DBSK:

I don't even remember how I found that video the other night. I just started listening to a bunch of their music this weekend. But yeah, the dancing in that video is seriously hynoptic. It's probably my favorite MV by them. In fact, I think I'mma go add it on my profile right now. The song is originally in Korean (well duh, they're a Korean band after all), and I tried listening to the Korean version, but it's just not the same as Japanese for me. Besides, have you ever tried singing alone with a song in Korean rather than Japanese Romanji? It's freaking hard! >.<
*Sighs* ...I guess I should try and get used to Korean too if I ever plan to watch K-Dramas.

Doushite Kimi wo Suki ni Natte Shimattan Darou:

I swear, Jaejoong (lead singer), looks so much like Light Yagami in this video it's scary. I actually heard this song by them a loooong time ago but wasn't all that interested. It's weird to come back to their music and all of a sudden love it.

Survivor:

Are you noticing a little pattern here about how I seem to like all the songs sung in Japanese by this Korean band? The awesome dancing also help. XD

All right, I'll stop with the videos and walls of text. Hope you had a great birthday! So again: Tanjoubi Omedetou! ^_^

Iilia | Mar 11, 2012 9:46 AM
Wow, that was a fast response!

Did you ask for recommendations on the forums or something or are you talking about from me ages ago? Haha, I only noticed the shoujo-ai because when I log in it tells you what your friends have recently watched/put on PTW, and I noticed you had a couple shoujo-ai completed, on PTW, and on your watching list, so I was all, "Whaaaat?" XD

Ah, and sorry if my random shoujo-ai comment came out of nowhere. Feels like we haven't talked in ages - I actually wasn't expecting a response from you so quickly! So what's new? Are you planning to watch anything this coming spring?

I keep forgetting to tell you, I heard somewhere that Uta-Pri might get a season 2. I'm not sure if I should be excited or not.

As for recommendations: Check out Inu X Boku SS, it seems like something you'd like. It's still airing from the winter line-up and it's a good shoujo pick. In a way it reminds me of Kuroshitsuji.

Iilia | Mar 11, 2012 9:18 AM
When did you get into Shoujo-ai? o.O

streppy | Mar 9, 2012 9:49 AM
I have not given many recommendations before so i am not sure it will fit your taste:

Les Misérables
Strawberry Panic

Also i recommend watching these even tho they are not elegant

Kemono no Souja Erin
Glass Mask (2005)

Do I want to ask what this worst possible way was? I was having a conversation with a friend online a long while ago. He knew I was into anime so he said something like, "You're not into hentai or anything, right?"

My clueless response was, "What's hentai?" So that's how I learned of its existence. Probably best I learned of it through a conversation rather than have some forum nuts shove it into my face or something.

Oh yeah, anime definitely have great stories. Why else would we watch them! People just can't seem to understand that it isn't Scooby-Doo, nor is it something weird/bad/whatever else.

There's been no news of a Dantalian season two. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I don't think it sold very well, though. :/

I don't think I'll watch the Ao no Exorcist specials, no. I don't like 1-2 minute things like that. There's only a few shows I make exceptions for with that, like Usagi Drop. 4-5 minutes of Rin and Daikichi is worth it! :)

Haha, you're not the only person I've talked to that was really put off by Chihayafuru's description but ended up loving it! So who do you like better: Taichi or Arata? I'm totally cheering for Arata. I just can't support Taichi at this point. Besides, he already has a girlfriend. XD

Hilda's been getting more screen time and such. For a while it was all Aoi, Aoi, Aoi. I like Aoi too, but I think I like Hilda more. Besides, the way Hilda gets when she's praising "the young master" is just hilarious. Her face goes from -_- to :D

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of Guilty Crown's protagonist and especially not of his voice actor. Every character he's ever voiced has sounded whiney to me.
I'm glad you're enjoying it, though! Its visuals and music are good, but that's to be expected of a band like Supercell. That opening song, Euterpe, was enchanting.

Oh, and I found this video with someone's top 50 anime OPs of 2011 on it! I'm sure you'll recognize a few of them from earlier in the season. :)

So far the shows I'm watching go in this order for now:

1. Bakuman 2
2. Chihayafuru
3. Mirai Nikki
4. Fate/Zero

5. Hunter X Hunter
6. Phi Brain
7. Kimi to Boku
8. Last Exile
9. Guilty Crown
10. Tamayura

11. Un-Go
12. Persona 4
13. Ben-To

I put them in tiers. Top 4 are obvious since I think I talk about them with anyone and everyone any chance I get. The middle ones are all decent and the bottom ones I'm struggling to like. Un-Go is episodic, tries to be a mystery and fails, and then tries to be deep and intellectual and also fails (so far). Persona 4 is repetitive and the characters are bland. Ben-To is trying so hard to be funny but not doing a good job, plus all the fanservice is an obvious red flag for me. To be honest it's probably more entertaining to watch than Persona 4, but the fanservice makes it worse for me.

Iilia | Oct 30, 2011 6:40 PM
No worries, I'm late too. :P

Human stereotypes. The horrors! I've always wondered if they seem... normal. I mean, you meet a crapload of idiots on the internet everyday, so you when you think to yourself that ALL of those people exist somewhere in the world, it's just scary... but more pathetic than scary. And I've always wondered to myself upon meeting one of these idiots, "What are they like in real life?" and promptly imagine myself punching them with all my strength, breaking every tooth in their mouth. I'm not violent! Really, I'm not! *Big smile*

...Okay, I'm a little violent. But only to those that deserve it! :D

My first guess as to why they think it's weird would be because of those abnormal fans who watch cartoon porn hentai, yaoi, yuri, etc. But then I have to remember I didn't even know of the existence of that stuff until I started watching anime online, so of course most people with no interest in anime whatsoever wouldn't know of it either. (Lol@imagining their reaction. Glorious!) But anyways, I think they just find it weird that older people who should have grown out of "cartoons" like to watch "poorly animated" ones from another country. Curse you, society, and all your cookie-cutter demands too!

Most of my family members think it's pretty weird I watch anime, but they don't really care at this point. I don't go out of my way to tell people I watch anime or anything, because how exactly would you bring it up in conversation? Just the same, if anyone ever asked what my interests are, anime would be one of the first things out of my mouth right along with video games. I like being an anomoly of a girl. ^_^

Between the both of us being so late with replying, Uta-Pri, Ao no Exorcist, and Dantalian all seem so old!

Uta-Pri played out how I expected it to except for Nanami's decision at the end there.

Dantalian was disappointing at the end. It's too bad it never actually went anywhere. I was glad to see Flamberge and her keeper again in the last episode, though. I really wanted those two to have more screen time.

Ao no Exorcist was awesome until it went anime original.

I'm watching way too much this new season. What kind of show are you looking for? Looks like you've already started Chihayafuru, which is something I would have recommended. I absolutely love it! By the way, how did you like Usagi Drop?

This is obvious: Bakuman 2! Picking up right where the other one left off. I love it~

How did you feel about Beelzebub at the time you put it On-Hold? Once it got passed the filler episodes it was pretty good, and where I'm at right now, episode 40, it's actually really good. Let me just say I absolutely adore Hilda's character even more.

You rated Fate/Stay Night a 9, so you should definitely check out Fate/Zero. I wasn't all that impressed with F/SN, but Zero is amazing! All the characters are older, so no highschool setting which makes for a very nice change of pace. All the heroes seem pretty cool and Saber returns as well. It is a prequel, after all. Also, the soundtrack is by Yuki Kajiura. <3

Last Exile has an interesting Steampunk theme going on. Aerial ships doing combat and such. There's a bit of fanservice, but compared to other shows it's really tame at this point. It's a bit reminiscent of Fractale. I haven't seen the original Last Exile and I don't think it matters if you have. I hope it'll end well since it's supposed to have 20+ episodes.

Mirai Nikki has been a lot better than I thought it would be. That OVA we watched really didn't do the show justice. Fanservice is its only downfall. The way they've got the story set up is really intruging though, and it's one of my favorites this season.

You might like Tamayura Hitotose. It's a slice of life show with four female characters. I'm sure you know the stereotype-genre. It's cute for what it is.

I have to catch up with a few other like Hunter x Hunter and Un-Go, so I can't say anything about those. The last one I'll mention is Phi Brain. It's not really a remarkable show. The thing I like best is the protagonist, which doesn't happen often for me. I just love his personality. It's kind of funny at times and the animation is a bit weird but okay-ish just the same. One disappointment people have is that the puzzles in the show are practically impossible for the viewer to solve, so you just get to watch as our genius MC does everything. Haha.

All the above shows are airing, by the way. My favorites this season would be Bakuman 2 (of course!), Chihayafuru, Mirai Nikki, and Fate/Zero.

Hentai and yaoi? By yaoi I'm assuming you mean actual yaoi, the hardcore stuff, and not shounen-ai, the "romantic" kissing stuff? Some people don't use shounen-ai and yaoi to differentiate, but I do. Anyways, I can't believe people would actually admit to watching yaoi and hentai in person... I've even seen people on the internet ashamed to admit they watch it, haha. In person I'd imagine it would go something like this:

Person 1: Hey, do you ever watch any hentai?
Person 2: Uhh...
*Inner thoughts: That's too awkward to say out-loud... no way can I admit that...*
Person 2: Nah, I'm not really into that stuff.
Person 1: Oh, okay... I watch it from time to time.
Person 2: Wait, really? Actually, I do too! I was only kidding! *laughs awkwardly*

So I'm curious, were all the people that liked hentai guys and the people that liked yaoi girls? It's an internet stereotype, so I'm wondering how it holds up to actual people. I do know of one girl on here that likes both hentai and yaoi, but one isn't a whole lot. Most everyone I've seen that's really into ecchi/hentai is a guy and the ones that like shounen-ai/yaoi are girls. Go figure, I guess some stereotypes are true. o.O

I'd definitely feel awkward around that club with members having such tastes. It kind of gives anime a bad name in my opinion. People already have enough of a hard time understanding why teens/older people would watch "cartoons" in the first place, so having them be so... graphic definitely doesn't help the case. Aside from being awkward, I can just imagine the "debates" I would get into with those guys. Perhaps it's best I never consider joining any sort of anime club. XD

99.9% of all anime I watch is subbed as well. I used to prefer dubs since that's what I started with, and Death Note was one of those shows. I don't think it's that bad for a dub either, but I may only think that because I've only seen/heard the dubbed version and only bits and pieces of it in subs. Not so long ago I turned on the TV to Durarara, and let me tell you, the dubbed version is so awful for that show! Particularly Masaomi, oh my God, my ears... It wasn't even the voice so much as the lines he was forced to cough out.

Really? How'd you end up a host family? That's awesome! You'll have to tell me how it goes! :D

A second season of Dantalian would be great. As for its likelihood, that is iffy. I mean, how often do we get second seasons these days? The odds really don't look good. Second seasons depend on how well the anime sells, or so I'm told. I don't keep track of that sort of stuff, so I can't exactly "predict" anything either. We'll just have to wait and see.

Ao no Exorcist

Uta-Pri (ep. 11)

Tamayura also had an OVA, but I didn't watch it since I figured I'd just go with the TV series. Hopefully I'm not setting myself up for something awful. The description really is ambiguous. When you say you want an anime that you can relate to and one that will "teach" you, are you talking about pictures/photography, or something else?

Ahaha, the show isn't called "No. 6 Bones." There was a period (.) after the 6. You probably couldn't tell because of the period after No. (number). No. 6 = Number Six. Here's the MAL link to NO. 6. As for "Bones," that is the name of the studio. Generally, I like Bones. They did Durarara, FMA, and Darker Than Black. Until No. 6, they were one of my favorite studios. Now noitanimA and Bones are releasing Un-Go, and like NO 6., it looks like it's going to have shounen-ai rhythms. (For the record, NO. 6 was also by noitanimA [and Bones], so you see why I'm worried?) NO. 6 is a show that aired this summer (and finished on Thursday). I watched it up until episode 7 (dropped) when the strong shounen-ai vibes were no longer vibes and formulated into something more... tangible. For some reason an incredibly small group here on MAL does not believe NO. 6 deserves the shounen-ai tag, so it was very misleading. Thanks for wasting 7 episodes worth of my time, MAL... or rather, MAL users. *glares*

I was also wondering if I need to see the original Last Exile before this new one. I was told it's an alternate universe, so the order in which we see them shouldn't matter. At most we're probably just going to miss a few cameo appearances. I may decide to watch the original anyways since it's got a pretty good MAL rating, though.

Here's the most up-to-date chart I could find for the fall season's anime. The only other notable thing I can see on there for you is Shakugan no Shana III since you did see the first two seasons.

Movies are at the very bottom. I didn't bother listing mine before since it takes forever for anime movies to be subbed what with the wait for them to get out of the theater and then go on to DVDs. Hotarubi no Mori e, Toaru Hikuushi e no Tsuioku, and maybe Mardock Scramble looked interesting enough. Movies are always easier to watch than a whole TV series, too. By the way, I think that's the second film for the Mardock series.

Iilia | Sep 15, 2011 1:50 PM
Hm, I don't see what else you'd do in an anime/manga club other than watch/read the material. I guess you could always talk with everyone else and see how they liked it, gather their views and opinions, etc. That could be fun so long as people don't get hostile, haha!

Nope, I haven't decided on a cooking anime yet. I did say I was considering both Ristorante and Yakitate!! Japan, it's just that I haven't really had the time to pick up a completed show. Hah, I say as I'm rewatching Death Note. DN is just easier to watch since I'm watching it in dubs - I've been watching it on the family desktop while I'm cooking, cleaning, eating, basically anything that I can multi-task with. I can't really do that with subbed anime. I have to sit down and watch it to read the subs.

I didn't think that the other Madoka-look-alike they showed was connected to Dalian directly. Maybe she is, I don't know. I'd like them to do more than episodic mysteries. They haven't shown Flam or that girl with the eyepatch for a long while. I'm beginning to wonder why they even introduced those character if they don't intend to use them further.

I had intended to keep that profile picture for longer until I realized it was the same MAL picture used for the Steins;Gate special. I've switched it to a new one now. The character is the same as before (Makise, Kurisu). Steins;Gate concluded brilliantly, by the way!

Ao no Exorcist

I'm not caught up with Uta-Pri, so I'll have to get back to you on that! However...

Are you planning to watch any of the fall season's anime? I thought I'd already sent you my PTW list, but I guess I didn't!

As you know, I ramble as well. >:)

Iilia | Aug 25, 2011 9:00 AM
Wow, school already? School doesn't start for my cousins until September, but they're in middle school, not high school.
You're the second person to tell me about an anime club. I didn't think they were that common. So what's yours like? Do you guys get to watch anime on club time? /jealous

I remember seeing Yumeiro around when it was airing, but I never picked it up. Baking is just as interesting to me as cooking. The prospective of fairies and magic involved is also okay to me. I'm totally picturing Kin'iro no Corda based off of that description, only with baking being the theme rather than music. What was that fairy's name? Lily?
Anyways, the two food-themed anime I was thinking of watching were Yakitate!! Japan and Ristorante Paradiso.

I'm starting to think Dalian is over a hundred years old since she's some kind of biblioprincess. Huey looks to be in his 20's. He was in a war after all, so he's not a teenager. Huey's profile picture looks pretty different than how he looks in the anime, but in a good way. Actually, he kind of looks like Claude from Ikoku Meiro!
I don't know if you're at the same place as me in the anime or not, so I'll just say I like the new characters they introduced in last week's episode of DnS.

(I Can't think of anything to say about Ao no Exorcist right now. I'm so awesome!) XD
