Oh, I like Higurashi for their strained atmosphere and interesting characters. Kawaii girls with hatchets are awesome ^__^ The second season is less bloody but it gives all answers because in the first season you won't understand anything :D
In Umineko, I do like the plot like in Agatha Christie's "Ten little nigger boys" when there are many guests and an island from which they can't get away and somebody begins to kill them...;) Be sure to watch it :) As for manga I haven't read Higurashi but I've begun Umineko as I want to understand it coz there is no second season with answers X__x". But I read it very slowly ^^". |

For me Blood+ has an interesting plot which develops over time. The characters are well done and the overall style is perfect. I found the anime truly captivating and every episode made me want to watch it more. Blood+ has great action but also deeper emotions / feelings. I think it is an excellent anime.
