It's really interesting. Apparently, a lot of the background imagery is historically accurate and actually look like those places, some of the people you see in the background are based/modeled off of real people who actually lived in that area in that time period and they went as far as mapping out the weather in the regions the story took place so the weather in the anime is exactly the same as it was on the actual day back in the 1940s. I found this attention to detail to be really unique. :3

It really was a good movie :3 I was lucky enough to see it at AX and it just blew me away as well literally ;) Have you read the manga or done any background searches into the movie itself because it's really quite fascinating how much work and detail actually went into the anime :3
