Btw, you really do not go around Skype very much, do you. It's a shame we don't have a better means of communication than this (I very often forget about my chats here unfortunately, in fact I realize I have to respond to your last message from a century ago yet can't make myself do it, this site ruins me)
I have few to no complaints about S;G. Apart from being mind-blowingly original, or having just so many positives that just outshine the negatives, that's another way to get a 10 out of me. Not only was it extremely tense, emotional and filled with thought-provoking material, it was also very consistent and managed to conclude itself in a very fulfilling way that left little unsolved, and the way it solved everything well enough.
Plus it had some of the most emotionally violent stuff I've ever witnessed, and that while not being cartoon-y, or cliche, or using too many mega-cheesy-convenient-one-in-a-million-setups. The Feyris backstory is a good example.
So it's very unique among everything else, very perfect and earned my love. Let's say that's enough for me ^^
He didn't lose big time, they were all putting it all on the line and Hisoka blinked first. The whole point of it being that long was that both of them could see and react to everything the other one dished out, it was incredibly close.
Yes, they are, I'm not saying it doesn't make sense for him to be able to kill them, I'm saying they deserve better than that.
And yes, I phrased it that way mainly because this time he did it that way. And he better do it that way, otherwise he doesn't stand a chance. But even if he does, him alone in 10 consecutive match-ups and a significant number of them (or god forbid all) falling before him will be dumb. Now of course I'd be fine if it was something more complicated (we just saw how much into detail Hisoka can go in his fight with Chrollo), but he just decided to kill the 13 members of the probably single baddest scariest human group, and in that chapter he managed to do it without breaking a sweat. Yes, it's Hisoka, but Genei Ryodan has been established as something that should be much more.
Anyone can die, for sure. But next time Hisoka'll be frying eggs with his super-multi-functional-busted bungee gum...
I don't know if I like how much effort Togashi is putting into making Hisoka's nen invincible, while he hasn't done so for many other characters. :/
I'd really appreciate if stuff go into more detail from now on and he doesn't just off-screen people. Not to mention that he said he intends to hunt them down one by one in stealth, but he also just revealed his plan to Machi who will share it to the whole group... It's a mess.
Not being nakama power is one thing, but it was despair and horror, as well as him giving in to Rize's powers hidden in his body and psyche. And the best part of it is that the effects of that actually lasted post-fight. Usually shounen heroes with hidden monster powers pull off the moment of the "giving in to the beast" well and epic enough, but then it all goes to nothing and feels like a plot device. With Kaneki, it has deep lasting influence on his character in and out of battle.
Nope, I'll see when I'll catch up with it. I know when shows decide to split their story like that, the second one take quite a while to get things going, so I'm fine with waiting a little bit and reading and watching other stuff.
... Though it seems that for the time being I'm studying Japanese and playing Undertale. And listening to a fuckton of epic music. And reading ASOIAF...
Masterpieceness, eh. Though I'd like to think that Kaneki being tortured by Yamuri and the following fight, as well as the last, like... a lot of chapters, were especially great. I believe we'll get more of that <3
I'll read :re and then draw my conclusions about the grand picture of the whole series, and then decide. If it continues to be so amazing, it just might go to 10. :4
Feel free to share anything that you find interesting/exciting/bad about it here, btw.
That's the one. Though I often find myself unable to distinguish between characters and understand who says and does what xD The faces just make sense and go along nicely with all the rest though.
Wanna recommend a thing or two that I'd want to check out?
Forgetting the existence of the anime and focusing on the manga would be wise. I have yet to read :re, but the first one legitimately had me shaking while reading, its horror/psychological elements are THAT good. I'd say all other story elements are solid as well. Yep, do read.
Me, I'm following a schedule aiming to finish some ~30 more series of manga and anime until the end of my semester. And I'm doing a terrible job of that, but ah well. Next in line should be Ares and Shigatsu ha Kimi no Uso...
Is it? Wasn't it supposed to be next month? I had hoped to watch the 2011 anime in full before it finally got back, but it's not like I'm complaining haha.
