hanakocheeks Jan 2, 2:46 AM
Hsuya-san!! Happy new year~ I enjoyed these past few days. I ate a lot of good foods and went to a lot of places. I hope you also had a lot of lovely moments during this holiday :) send my warmest regards to your family! Let's live 2025 with lots of laughter and good memories~♡

Aah I see. If the company where you are interning now gives you a job offer too, will you still choose the company that gave you the job offer first? Or the current one? But either way, it's awesome to know that you've already gotten a job offer before you graduate, especially as you said, it pays well. I don't know why, but that's... kind of touching? Hahah. I don't mean anything by saying this, but I would totally hug you if we knew each other in real life. Once again, congratulations ♡ may more blessings and happiness come to your way this year :) keep being cool!!

Whoa, dating a celebrity? Interesting lol. Which celebrity is closest to your ideal type?

Give Princess Mononoke a try, you might like it. What is Kaonashi doing in the movie? I don't know either haha. But I personally like Kaonashi. His role is not too significant in Chihiro's development, because Chihiro is actually the one who helps Kaonashi to grow. I feel like he initially just wanted to be seen and noticed, which Chihiro did. He then became obsessed with Chihiro and wanted her but Chihiro ignored him. He tried various methods (such as giving her gold) but Chihiro kept refusing him, which eventually made him angry and throwing tantrum (probably because he felt rejected/betrayed). In the end he realizes that Chihiro will never accept him if he continues to behave like that, so he returns to his calm state and shows remorse for his actions. He calmly followed her and went to the house of an old witch (I forgot her name) and became a useful servant. I still remember that in the end Kaonashi and Chihiro both smiled at each other. You know, I feel like Kaonashi was like a child who might be lonely. They want to be noticed & accepted, but don't know how to do it right, so sometimes they make a mess. When Kaonashi became the witch's servant, he finally knew the right way to have someone pay attention to him and become his friend. At his core, I think he is a gentle and peaceful being, though timid with an obsessive side. He's a side character who's more than just meme-able... I guess. Or maybe I'm just overthinking it. But anyway, I think Kaonashi is a fascinating character (and quite cute, don't you think?) While Howl.... is pretty and charming but his personality is bad lol. I admire him as the most princely character I've ever seen but nope, I'd stay away from someone like him in real life, hahaha. Don't be like Howl!

I don't have any pets but I do feed the stray cats I meet on the road or that stop by my yard :) do you have any pets?

Omg wait, overly passionate, hot-headed and plays basketball?! Am I talking to Sakuragi right now?!?! ⸜(。˃ 〇 ˂ )⸝ !!! okay but honestly I didn't expect you to join the basketball club.... and then get thrown a water bottle lmao. Hey hey, look who's being cocky~ you so silly~ well at least it was a memorable experience in a way hahah xD. May I know why you only joined the club until 10th grade? You don't have to answer that if it's a personal reason.

I would never have known that Sugita didn't go to seiyuu training school if you didn't tell me! That's so impressive that we can even say perfect. He puts his talent to the fullest with his own hard work. I mean, sometimes there are people who take a job lightly because they have the talent or privilege to do so, or there are people who work hard but still don't achieve much. But Sugita achieved his success with talent and hard work. Especially when you know he's still a humble person despite his big name and status as a high-end seiyuu... because let's be honest, people with his personality are very rare nowadays. I can see why you admire him so much :) just based on this, it's obvious how humble and honest he is.

Yep agreed, Gintoki was made specifically and perfectly for Sugita! There will be no other seiyuu who deserves that role other than him. I haven't even watched Gintama other than seeing random clips on social media but I also feel like "wow, the seiyuu is great. It's like he's playing a role" like Sugita is acting as Gintoki, not just being a voice actor. I feel similar to how Natsume can only be voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya. I also really admire seiyuu who can make a character feel alive :) honestly there aren't many anime that have Sugita as one of the seiyuu that I've watched, but maybe from now on I'll start looking at him with a different view whenever I see a character he voices. Hmm someone I look up to? Rather than look up to, it's probably more like admire... I admire Yuki Midorikawa and adore the way she puts her thoughts into stories. Of course it's biased because Gin and Natsume are my comfort characters, but really, the stories she creates are so gentle and simple yet meaningful. I also love how she slips in life values implicitly for her manga readers/anime viewers to interpret the meaning of the scenes according to their own thoughts. I admire her for all the serenity and love in her work. Again, this is biased, but I'm pretty sure not many authors can write stories as calm as hers. Even so, she still manages to slip in comedy and fun moments to keep it from being too 'flat' (stereotype of SoL) without ruining the overall atmosphere. Especially Natsume Yuujinchou, thanks to that, I learned to appreciate the good things around me no matter how small it is :), being present and be more sincere in accepting all kinds of disappointments because sadness and joy have their own time and place (´。• ◡ •。`) ♡ (sorry if I sounded like I was preaching lol).

To be honest, I've never really looked into historical documentaries, not because they weren't interesting but because I only learned about my country's history (and a few other Asian countries) in school, so yeah I was a bit confused about where to start when I wanted to find something related to world history. Even I only found out about the French revolution when I started watching Rose of Versailles... because I wasn't taught about it in school. So if you don't mind, please tell me about anything, be it history or true crime. Well if you can tell me a bit about your country? ~ history or true crime, or anything you find interesting.

I have a lot going on during this holiday and I'm not sure I'll be able to finish any new anime, so I'm only rewatching two, Erased and My Little Monster. Have you watched either of them? If not, give it a try. They're fun, at least for me. If you have watched them, what did you think?
hanakocheeks Dec 27, 2024 8:49 PM
I didn't expect that you would give me a math..... and then talk about Boku no Pico. Gosh I'm laughing it's so funny. I love our conversation.

Okay but wow, congratulations! A big congratulations!! Your internship was extended and you got a job offer at the same time, that feels like a miracle doesn't it? You deserve it for all your hard work. Everyone must have tried hard but each person has their own reward in their own time, and this time the good thing is yours. Congratulations :) thank you for telling me this good news, I'm really happy for you. You are one step closer to the life you dreamed of. Let's try the best for your Master's degree plan! If I may ask, will you be working at the same company as you are doing your internship now?

But yeah, there's nothing wrong with taking a break and enjoying the moment while you can. Celebrate your achievements~ ♡

Ugh, now that I re-read my speech, I feel like I'm projecting my own feelings. I'm sorry, please just forget it (ᵕ—ᴗ—) I don't understand why I was carried away by my personal emotions at that time. I'm sorry.

Hahaha, Sousuke's mom is really cool, and the fact that she accepted Ponyo as a fish is amazing, even feeding her ramen with ham. Totoro is also cute, it can help grow plants quickly. I would love to have it as my pet lol. Honestly I thought you would answer with Kaonashi from Spirited Away haha, or San (Princess Mononoke).

What are some of your favorite sports or ones you usually play? I'm not a fan of the sports genre, but I do enjoy Haikyuu and Slam Dunk (the movie). Most likely because I like the atmosphere, how it can make me focus on something I usually don't care much about and can also make me feel the excitement. Oh and Tsurune, it's an anime about archery and it's so calm. I loved it. I can understand what you mean, since you're used to playing soccer/football in real life, it feels weird watching Blue Lock because it does have the 'spice' of being a TV show. Just like people who are used to working in the arts and watching an anime about art, there might be a bit of an awkward feeling in them. But thanks for the recommendation, Baby Steps and Major are on my list. Have you watched Chihayafuru yet?

Lmao okay, I'll let you know if Tomokazu Sugita plays any role. Like, any role, anything. And you should watch it, okay? ;p do you have a special reason for making him your ultimate favorite?

Aha, no wonder you like Monster. The first "person" that came to my mind when I read your explanation was Johan, hahah. Well he may not be a dictator, but speaking of beliefs and perspective, those are two things that are related or even identical to him. Don't worry, tell me more. We learn something new every day, so maybe I can learn a thing or two through your thoughts and perspective :)

Thanks for the well wishes! •ᴗ• but I'll wish you a happy new year in the next 3 or 4 days ;p hahaha
hanakocheeks Dec 23, 2024 8:57 AM
Heyaaa! Sorry for the late reply, I have some things to do before the long holiday begins~

Awwww thank you for your understanding and kind words ( ˘͈ ﹏ ˘͈♡)ᆺ although I was bothered by their words, I decided not to take it too seriously because I'm a bit scared too... (about some things in the future) so I prefer to answer them jokingly, or ignore them completely (this might be a bit childish). Lmao that's a nice counter but pretty sure I'll get chewed out if I answer with something like that lol.

But, yep. I know, right?! I don't know why people are so eager to get other people married! I don't know why... like, I mean, whenever we get married it has nothing to do with them.... sometimes people say that by getting married, we will really become "a whole person" and understand the true meaning of life... omg. That may not be completely wrong, but it doesn't mean that marriage = everything's done. I think joy and sorrow should go hand in hand. No marriage, or simply a relationship, will always be all happy and sweet. But it would be awful to feel more sad than happy. Too much happiness will make us take it for granted and be ungrateful, too much sadness will make us stressed and damage our health physically and mentally. No one is perfect, I know, therefore we will look for the right person, right? Who also feels that we are the right person for them. I just don't want to take something as big as marriage lightly. So I think your decision to do a Master's degree or an international internship is the right move!!! 21 is so young..... damn.... sorry if I sound rude but like, 21....? You even just graduated from high school about 3 years ago... that's too ridiculous T____T

Okay, August to September! Half a year to go! I'll be sitting pretty and waiting for any good news~

Hahahah xD I wish I could switch myself into human by day and Ponyo by night, that would be really cool actually. Hmm or being Kiki... being a witch sounds really fun to be honest. We don't have to get stuck in traffic because we're traveling on brooms ദ്ദി ˉ͈̀꒳ˉ͈́ )✧ and understand cat language too!!! Hahaha. Do you have any Ghibli characters that you would like to be if you could?

"The lesser the clothes you have to wear the better" lol that's a pretty wild thing if anyone hears it without knowing the context xD but I also like Summer. I personally feel like Summer has a more fun atmosphere than other seasons. AND AAAHHH AGREE with you! Rainy season is the worst! Especially because it makes it hard to go by public transportation. I hate rain so much so I almost never do anything outside unless I have to.. but there's one more good thing. Eating instant noodles during the rainy season makes it taste so much better and tastier. Yum yummm (っ˘ڡ˘ς) Although, if I had the chance to experience all the seasons, I would probably love fall the most? It's after summer and before winter, so it would feel warm. Not too sunny, not too gloomy. Just right.

Hey...... keep being a dumbass then ദ്ദി(˵ -̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) it might help you in the future hahah. But even if you are a dumbass then you will be my favorite one (✿ᴗ͈ˬᴗ͈)⁾⁾

Honestly, I was really shocked when I read that you finished 51 episodes in under 3 days. That's crazy. That's really crazy!! I just want to make sure, did you stay awake in 3 days? Wow.... like, that means about 20-something eps per day? :O for me I think the fastest I've ever finished was either first season of Mob Psycho or Haikyuu S2. It was fun but I felt so tired afterward, so I never do that anymore. FMAB was also really, really fun!!! I didn't expect that I would like it so much. The story left a great impression on me. The characters were amazing and it was probably the first time I enjoyed every single one of them including the bad guys. I loved every minute of it. Whether it's next year, or the year after, or whenever it is, I hope you'll give it a try. It's worth checking out. It was awesome!!! (fangirl mode).

Well, 2 hours of free time is a small amount of time sadly... especially after more than 3 hours of commuting. You can be sitting doing nothing and an hour has passed before you realize it. But that's okay, at the end of the day whether it's watching anime, movies, documentaries, video essays, short videos, or anything else is just to fill your free time with entertainment. If you no longer feel entertained by anime then it's better not to force it and look for other things. Entertainment is necessary so it's important to find what suits what we're interested in. I'm just glad you're still here and chatting with me even though you're not actively following animanga anymore. I'm happy and thankful to you for that. Thank you (っ˘͈ ᵕ ˘͈)っ˘͈.

Tomokazu Sugita???? Okay... in Spring next year, he will be voicing the male lead in Kowloon Generic Romance. Well it's not really a romcom, it's more melancholic, but I like the daily lives of the characters which tend to be quite realistic from the middle class. You probably won't watch it but I just want to let you know ~

Whoa, I remember you once said that you like old shows, but didn't expect that it got to the real old civilization. Sorry I'm not familiar with it, but what do documentaries about dictators cover? I had an idea about WW II, but I never looked up more about dictators and their policies.

Omg. My secret is out. To tell you the truth, yes I'm a psychic and my side job is being Reigen's (cute) shaman. I sold medicinal herbs that helped him exorcize evil spirits called salt. Don't tell anyone, okay? 🤫😂

Aaah I see, I don't really like the ML either. I feel sorry for the FL because she's being played (well, she is). At least it has a wholesome ending. Maybe I'll continue watching it sometime. Thanks for letting me know~ :)

Oh and maybe this is a little too soon but happy holidays! I hope you can have wonderful days before the year changes. Get enough rest and eat lots of good food! Let's treat ourselves with nice things at least during this time of the year, we deserve it for all our hard work anyway ;)
hanakocheeks Dec 14, 2024 6:57 AM
That's good to hear! I agree, older people love to talk about their children and their youth. I also sometimes like to make small talk to them about the fun things they did when they were younger and they'll be so excited to tell me about it! Some of it sounds like real fun, and some of it sounds a bit... questionable? Lol but of course I'll still laugh out of respect. Well I mean I can't possibly question those things, right? I'm trying to make a good image in front of them....

It's just that, when talking about family, sometimes it can be a topic that actually 'attacks' me back :( there are some older colleagues who even offend my personal affairs when they are boasting about their children... hmm like, they can suddenly ask how old I am, which will then lead to questions such as whether I have a partner or not, and if I answer no, they will say "oh no, you are not a kid anymore. You're a grown woman, you're going to get married one day, right? You should seriously look for a partner from now on. At what age will you get married? You're just getting older..." with a pitying look, or, even if I say I have a partner, they'll still ask things like what he does, where we met, when we're getting married, and other troublesome questions... 🥹 it can get really tiring sometimes. When I'm in a bad mood, pretending to laugh to change the subject of our conversation can really drain my energy, to be honest.

But yeah, these days, I'll just answer those personal things with a joke. If they ask me "do you have a partner now?", I'll reply with "yes I do! He's in Japan! We'll get married when he comes here!" and they'd be speechless xD hahahah. That really makes life easier.

Anyway, I hope your internship goes well~ ♡ please let me know when you graduate!

Oh sorry, I thought you lived in Australia hahah. I didn't know that Australia actually has summer right now if you didn't say so. We learn something new every day~ to tell you the truth, I don't experience winter either. I live in SEA so I've honestly never experienced winter. It's always either rainy season or summer here lol. Is winter as fun as it is on TV shows? :3

Wow. You're really healthy, eh? I actually got sick a lot when I was a kid. I fell a lot, got hurt a lot, I even got food poisoning twice a few years ago. May I know what your secret recipe is for rarely getting sick, sir?

UHHH I FINALLY FINISHED HANA YORI DANGO!!! I watched it in 3 weeks, wow. That's pretty long... I finished FMAB in 2 weeks despite it having more episodes than HyD. It was exhausting. So yup, you don't need to watch it :') too dramatic... extremely stressful...

You know, it's normal. You have a priority now, and it takes up more of your time, more of your energy, you get tired to 'just' sit down and finish something. I think it's okay to have a break and stop for a while, watch what you really want to watch, even if it's just short videos you see on Youtube. Honestly, the reason I'm watching Hana yori Dango is also because at the moment, I'm kind of bored with anime and it takes me a long time just to finish 1 season (12-13 eps). Then I thought, before becoming an anime fan, I was a big fan of k-drama, so I tried to watch something related to my teenage years to get me back in the mood.

Monster is an impressive story, but I personally think some episodes in the beginning are boring. I don't think you can finish it anytime soon. How about you start from watching an on-going anime/series? Because you only need to watch 1 or 2 episodes per day. The most trending anime right now is Dandadan.

Whaaaat? Hahaha, aren't you still 21, young master? If the thing you're enjoying right now is historical documentaries, then just enjoy it. Like you said, "our tastes are constantly evolving" :) so it's okay, we can't stay still unless the world stops moving, there will always be small changes in ourselves and our daily lives no matter how much we try to stay still in this life, but who knows? Maybe in a few years you'll find yourself rewatching Gintama and laughing at all the ridiculous things in it again ;)

Btw, I see you've finished Itazura na Kiss. Was it light-hearted enough for you? You rated it a 6, though. I've only watched it up to episode 8, but I'd like to know what you think.
hanakocheeks Dec 8, 2024 8:48 AM
Wait, I have so much to say that I don't know where to start.

But first of all, congratulations on your internship!!! That's awesome. It might be tiring and you might meet new annoying people... but let's just ignore it~ just do your best!!

I was just googling (lol) and wow, yeah Australia has summer around December to February or March. So it's summer there? And you got sick in the summer? xD good to know that you've recovered. Drink lots of water, my son......

Hana yori Dango is an old romance-drama anime. So it is indeed... dramatic hahaha. Do you know Boys Over Flowers or Meteor Garden? Those are the Korean and Taiwanese live-action (drama) versions. I watched the Korean version back in 2010 and decided to watch the anime now. To be honest, I was so crazy about the drama and admired some of the characters... that was the reason why I decided to watch the anime... however... I actually feel very annoyed watching it now. I think it might be because I'm getting older, so the overly dramatic love story with toxic and confusing characters makes me uncomfortable. I can understand why my teenage self liked it, though. And Hana yori Dango is a pretty big name... so yeah, the fandom is huge. Well I didn't intend to drop this hahaha but it really tested my patience while watching it..... 😇🙏🏻

I don't recommend it, but if you have a lot of free time to spend, and are in the mood for a silly Cinderella-style love story, give it a try ;D

Anyway, thank you. I feel like you're a genuinely nice person. Yeah, we only know each other through the internet, but it's a relief to know that you're still replying to me, even dropping by here even though I was the one who stopped replying. And, from the way you try to respond to everything I say, I feel like, hmm, how do I say it? Like, if we met in person, you'd actually listen to what I'm saying, instead of just listening to me talk. That's really sweet, you know? I don't know what you're thinking, feeling, or going through when you reply to me, but thank you for replying so nicely.

(Sorry if this is too much for you, you don't need to be burdened by my words~ I just wanted to say what I was thinking :))
Mud_Bud Dec 3, 2024 1:15 PM
Yes, it's fun. It's a lot of work, but I enjoy it. Actually, a Spanish class I'm taking as an elective is giving me the most trouble right now, lol.

Congrats on your internship! I'm glad everything is working out for you. You just reminded me that I really need to start applying for summer internships. What field are you in again?
hanakocheeks Dec 1, 2024 8:07 AM
Hello! Sorry for the late reply. I was watching Hana Yori Dango these days and it was quite emotionally draining hahahah. Thanks for dropping by and saying hi~ I'm doing well. How have you been?

Btw, I'm sorry for not replying to our last conversation. I was thinking that it might be awkward to reply after such a long time, so I intend to reply by the end of the year to have an excuse (?) to start the conversation again. Therefore, I'm glad that you dropped by here again. Thank you! :)

Since it's starting to get colder, I hope you stay hydrated and warm. It would be very tiring to get sick in winter. So take care of your health, okay?
Mud_Bud Nov 30, 2024 12:58 PM
I haven't been on here much, either. It's hard to find the time to watch anime. I'm doing well, a little overworked at university, but well. I hope everything is going well for you. I appreciate the comment.
hanakocheeks Apr 13, 2024 10:43 AM
Hsuya-san! I might be late because of our time zone difference but happy birthday! I wish you always be blessed with joy and good fortune :) did you eat any good food on your birthday?
justLiv Apr 13, 2024 1:58 AM
I hope you have an amazing bday ❤
