I am not the average anime fan, in fact I'm no fan of it at all. It is even evident from the selective anime I've viewed so far. To make matters more complex, I'm not exactly sure why it is I watch anime, and when I do, I try to make sure that what I'm watching is a worthy time investment. Another common-ish aspect in the anime I watch is that most of them are short (or relatively short) and complete.
When it comes to genre, I'm all up for action, mystery and thriller. A good thriller that gets your mind racing and blood pumping is my fix. But anything horror is a major turn off, MAJOR. But I've also found myself to enjoy films on life and love. Which has surprised me to my core (which btw knows not love, only contentment).
As for me personally, I'm a young adult (age-wise), attending Uni away from home and trying to live life as comfortably as I can. My main purpose for creating a profile on MAL is that due to my lack of fanaticism for anime, none of my friendships are based on it. So I'm hoping this is a suitable platform to discuss anime, theorize, rant and converse.
So if you're reading this, feel free to drop me a message if any of what I've said has (miraculously) piqued your interest. Or you could just message me for the heck of it, I enjoy conversation. After all, "Man is by nature a social animal." -Aristotle

To be kind, I put Another on hold instead of dropping it. I just might, MIGHT, watch it in the distant future but for now consider me turned-off.
I'll try to watch the first four episodes of Another really soon.
I am using the google translator I 'm new here and want to experience have friends from other countries and share my tastes :)
I am Argentine and pleasure
IMO, horror movies and series thrive off of having nightmarish killers murder their victims in overly grotesque ways. However, Monster doesn't do this.
It relies on subtly drawing out the titular monster of the story rather than simply revealing everything all at once.
If you really don't like this series, I suggest you watch up to episode 4 and then drop it if you like because episode 4 basically reveals the villain for what he is and sets the tone for the rest of the series.
As you can probably tell, I am a HUGE, HUGE fan of Monster and would be disappointed if you gave up on it now.
I really want to know why you put Monster on hold since you said that you love thrillers and mysteries.
