Made with charcoal pencils I got for Black Friday.
Your birthday may be prior to Year of the Snake, but I would have you try some rotisserie chicken, potato chips and whatever beverage you like anyway on that interesting day.
Other than that, I can't wait for Black Friday and Christmas.
As for Fafner, it's more than a mere mecha anime. It's some of the best post-apocalyptic stuff I've ever seen and I think that said tomboyish friend exactly your age from Maryland would enjoy it more than Evangelion. Yes, she hates Evangelion and just doesn't like it as much as Ghost in the Shell. That or other sci-fi anime.
To be fair, my semitomboyish friend from North Carolina or the historical fangirl wasn't amazed by the End of EVA. She's not that crazy about Evangelion as much as other sci-fi stuff. The Evangelion manga wasn't that much surprising to me anyway and I'm 60% done with it.
The cel animation and special effects were flawless in the movie, but it was nothing special. Basically another movie made for the sake of eating popcorn.
As for the sequel Fafner Exodus, I enjoyed it more than most anime last decade. More than Attack On Titan, Fairy Tail, DBS, One Piece and Boku no Hiro combined. Like what am I? 15?
I also hope that Fafner season 3 will be about Festum origins, the alien that brought humanity to the brink of extinction in that series. At least I know that it came from deep space. In Evangelion, the author doesn't even explain where those Angels come from. No evidence that they came from an exoplanet or Andromeda so far. Some sources suggest that they came from Earth so how can a space alien come from Earth?
In Silent Möbius, the monsters came from another universe so at least their origin is very clear and I'm glad that the Fafner showrunner hasn't confirmed an ending to the series yet. Future Fafner content would be great.
Anime aside, I'm still enjoying this awesome Japanese tutorial book called Genki I. The next best book for beginners wanting to know Japanese after Instant Japanese. May the old Frenchman RIP.
I used to think that pesky part of speech called particles was exclusive to Japanese. Then I found out that Southern Min and Korean use it too.
I know nothing about Korean, but I heard that Southern Min or Min Chinese particles have more simplicity with more consistent grammatical function than its Japanese counterpart.
Articles (from definite to indefinite) and direct object pronouns don't exist in eastern languages. That's probably why some Asians use particles.
How are you doing this spring? I've been playing the original Sakura Wars and Star Ocean 2 for the first time.
Did anything interesting happen to you this January?
As for Japanese, I'm kind of getting closer to mastering the language.
Whoever Nihongodera's web designer may be is a genius. I had no idea idea that amatsu meant heaven in Japanese.
Ama means nun, but in the hands of someone vulgar or mischievous, it's a bad word.
