nice review on One Piece, but i disagree, especially at the part about Luffy. The only reason you said why he is awful and the crew too is because they have no Character Development, but CD isnt everything a good character needs and you dont need that to be good.

He's fairly standard as far as Shonen protagonists go, it's not like the character writing in Naruto is anything particularly mind blowing, but for me what makes him a really special character is the fact that there's literally no other character in the history of anime that we've gotten to see grow up over the course two decades (almost 1000 episodes) from child to teenager to young adult to father (even at times going back to add in stories from previous ages as well as offer extra stories to further explore him as a person). Very few anime get the opportunity to run for hundreds of episodes so that they can even do this, and those that do run that long never actually do, their characters are generally fairly static in their aging / personal growth (since usually for a show to get popular enough to run that long it has to be pretty consumable / surface level, frankly Naruto is that way as well just not as much as the other massive long running shonen). I mean even something like Dragonball where Goku did age from child to adult to father, he's still the exact same character he was when he was a child, nothing has changed, whereas Naruto we've gotten to see him genuinely grow as person (albeit slowly, Naruto had a painful amount of padding even if sometimes those extra stories can be cool). Regardless though I just think as a character he's offered viewers an experience no other character in anime has, and I appreciate that a lot.

Maybe I'll reconsider, then. I was mostly interested in going to Philly to see the Liberty Bell and meet my favorite mascot.
