i agree to this too, since "Sir" is more a military rank thing towards Superior Rank Officers, but both Sir and Ma'am work in this field given the sexes. Of course if the Officer states it right away what they prefer to be addressed with but you'd mostly not be wrong with "Yes, Ma'am Sir." or so.
Unless there had been recent changes to it.

Oddly enough, Sir is more a general rank, and can be used with both genders. Technicly, your adressing the rank, rather than the gender of the person then. At lest with military applications. Outside the military, you kinda are saposed to follow the gender apropriate term. Its really kinda flaky
Ma'am is more a polite term than a term of respect. Really so is Sir, and getting more thcnical, you can adress an officer by there rank, and it is just as good, if not in some cases better to do so. It just can be a mouthfull spouting all the rank titles so Sir is a general shorthand.

He has a little bit of tact, given the Hole situation. I think there is another example somewhere in the comic where he just stops smiling and does a 180 on his attitude when certain facets of a situation he's messing with come to light but I can't remember the specifics.
On an unrelated note someone ought to make a parody of Tomska's Hole skit with Ran and the Hole. Maybe me if I have the time and remember to give it a try.

Yinglets probably had that thought even about particularly tall trees for awhile until they realized that they tended not to move all that much.
And thank goodness Kass laid that out in such a succinct way, I was truly worried Kalgkur's head was about to start blooming his mushroom stalk simply out of needing the next century plus to process such a concept.

Agree, have an feeling they and the Indril was uplifted by the ancient. At least for the indril it makes some sense as they are giant social insects.
Baxxids might have been pretty smart but their lifestyle was not very social and no tool use.
Yinglets, how I expect first contact to be. Social stone age dinosaurs.

Yes its an catgirl because this one. But yes first contact is likely they trying to eat our probe.

Given how analytical they are yet subservient to the point that under some circumstances it can suppress their sapient mind, and how they don't seem to have any reason to evolve the mind that they have given their ecological niche and lack of opportunities to use it, I suspect this is by design.
As adorable (and understandable) as that last panel is, I do hope Kass develops a trust that overshadows yinglet reflex sooner than later.
It's shown that yinglet flight response can be overshadowed completely given time (such as the yinglets in the town using Kal as a miniature playground). And, of course, Kalgkur is such a good boy. I'm sure he'll make a good impression soon enough. =)

While a human child used him as a playground, that's due to human children lacking survival instinct. The Yinglets were catching a ride and offering tot be Helping Hands.
When encountering a predator who can outrun you, hanging out on their body can sometimes be the safest location, and offering assistance can position you as a symbiote, not food.

That wasn't the impression I got from that exchange at all. Maybe I missed the Helping Hands demarcation, but from the way they were talking it sure didn't seem like that's what they were doing.
Edit: Just double-checked. On the next page they did say one of them wanted to be a Helping Hands helper, but that seemed very independent of them fooling around on the previous page. (Or even the same page, for that matter.)

As seen on page 244, Baxxid already have coats in addition to their head-drapes. This may offer more opportunities to test the limits of Baxxid wear, but as snake-like as they can move, I'm not sure if they can go further than a cloak and drape.
'Ello, OOPsies! I'm here to remind you once again that there's a place called "Top Web Comics" https://www.topwebcomics.com/?home=3 that compiles comics from various places. There's a bunch of cool stuff there. They have monthly votes, so you can support OOPs there. You can vote once a day per device, so your PC, laptop, tablet, phone, etc.
I've noticed that you can sometimes even get in extra votes from different IP addresses, or if you're disconnected from your IP and open up again later.
It closed out last month at 12427 votes and 73rd place. It's currently at 11360 votes and 14th place. The highest it's reached is 36th place, and the top vote getters seem to end up with something close to 60,000 votes, at least recently.
Vote early, vote often! Help OOPs get noticed!

I'll repeat my comment on this from last time:
"The numbers at TWC have gotten very strange recently. Hundreds of votes have been showing up suddenly every day, and the rankings throughout a day have been going radically up and down. I recently noticed that this is just confined to the comics in the top 100.
This is making the numbers and rankings pretty meaningless, and is really unfair to any comic not in the top 100. It also makes it a complete crapshoot where the comics end up at the end of the month. I haven't been able to find out what's going on with this."

My macro lady Sylia, half-whale, half-otter, would say Kalghur has the spirit of Exploration in him. In a lot of ways, Kalghur and Sylia are cut from the same cloth; they consider other species as people, they both quest after knowledge, they take their jobs seriously, and they're trying to figure out how to belong in a world - or a galaxy - never made for them.
Kalghur's definitely an inspiration in developing Syl. Because neither of them are typical members of their people, and both have a POWERFUL belief: Do No Harm.
Even that end thought of Kass; that's what a LOT of people think when they're dealing with a Godzilla-sized whotter.
Sylia: "I have so much to learn, so many stories to exchange, so much to experience among these Tinies!"
Tinies: "I hope this gal doesn't fekkin' eat me," pretty much sums it up.

I wonder if we're just going to glaze over the fact that kind of ironically, Kal is admiring kass for going through such a hard thing. But Kal also went through a horrible experience in his own way by accidentally murdering someone and then going through a trial and being in a way separated from his own kind. Makes me wonder if Kal is bottling the whole situation up and ignoring it or looking towards Kass to admire instead of taking time to really think on his own situation.
Just kind of intrigued whether Val will bring any of that up in Kal or whether we're just past that whole situation now and we'll never really come back to it

I had a thought about Kass's’ thoughts. Does he still hear his human voice in his head when he thinks? It’s been over a month since his transformation, I wonder if and when he’ll forget the sound of his original voice, which would be one of the last connections he has to his former self.
I don’t necessarily doubt that Kass still hears his original internal voice when he’s thinking, but it could very well be a gradual change that he doesn’t notice at first, until one day he realizes it and we’d probably get a page or journal from Kass covering it.
The fact he still pronounces “th” in his thoughts is something I’ve noticed as well; however, on page #306 what I find interesting is his intrusive, instinctive yinglet thoughts also pronounce the “th” sound. I would’ve been inclined to believe they were said in his screechy yinglet voice, which they may or may not.
