I used to blindly disregard anime as weird and not for me. That all changed in 2015, when a few friends introduced me to what are now some of my favorite shows. Originally, there were only about 2 dozen or so shows I was interested in checking out, but that list kept growing, and eventually I decided I may as well get a MAL account to keep better track of everything.
My scores are primarily based on my enjoyment, and in most cases, shouldn't be taken as a serious critical evaluation. I tend to mainly seek out and watch what I think I will like, hence my relatively high Mean Score, as well as titles that simply seem interesting due to their premise and/or legacy in the community. In general, a 6 or a 7 is my threshold for "this was worth watching".
If you scroll through my list, you'll probably notice a good number of titles with the tag "Dub Approved". Despite starting out as a sub purist, over time I've come to greatly enjoy English dubs, and I think it's important to recognize when a dub can serve to elevate the viewing experience, or at the very least defy negative stereotypes.
I rarely add anything to my Plan to Watch list anymore, with the exception of continuations of shows I'd like to keep following. There are still plenty of shows out there I'm at least a little interested in checking out, but only time will tell if I ever actually get around to them.
