Fish are cool
I love obscure anime from the 70s-early 2000s
I'm not a great conversation starter, but always feel free to message me
Studying Japanese and French - Fairly fluent in Japanese (Conan helped a lot); my French is awful atm
Off and on learning guitar, piano, and shamisen as well, I suck at all of them!!
Art and music lover ~favorite genres: jazz-funk, enka, prog rock, classical, ska, 70s in general
I love tokusatsu my favorite of all time is Godzilla, but also Kamen Rider, Ultraman, and Giant Robo.
With that, I just generally like anything with supernatural/monsters/ghosts/aliens/espers.
I've also watched a lot of French animated films; my favorite's A Cat in Paris
I didn't know it until just recently that my first anime was even anime, it was an old DVD or tape my mom had which I can consciously remember watching at 2. The first anime I'm aware was an anime was Sgt Frog at age 4. I watched Studio Ghibli and kids anime until late 2020 when I finally got into anime proper
Milestones:
First anime: The World of Hans Christian Andersen
First manga: Hinamatsuri
Anime that got me into anime: Cowboy Bebop
100th anime: Kids on the Slope
200th anime: Lupin III: Fujiko's Lie
300th anime: Detective Conan OVA 7: A Challenge From Agasa! Agasa vs. Conan & the Detective Boys
400th anime: Detective Conan Movie 25: The Bride of Halloween
Non-manga books I'm reading:
Seekers: Forest of Wolves 9/25
Warriors: The Sight 18/26
Favorite Quotes
Lupin: "There's only one person in the audience of your life: yourself. So what's the point if you don't care what happens next in the story?"
Tylor: "You only live once, so don't live according to someone else's rules. Always do what you want the way you want to."
Hayao Miyazaki: "Most important things in life are a hassle. If life's hassles disappeared, you'd want them back."
Spike Spiegel: "Oh well, whatever happens, happens."
Mamo: "Lupin doesn't even dream! Emptiness, nothing! Only God or a complete idiot would have a subconscious like that!"
Jet: "And really, there is nothing more innocent and cruel than a child."
Olivier Armstrong: "If he died with a smile, then we can't let ourselves weep over him."
Aya Kouda: "No one can compete with the perfection of the dead."
Ozu: "Can you really achieve personal growth by relying on an air conditioner?"
Lupin: "Don't worry about Hell, we're going deeper."

I think I dropped it because it ultimately wasn't a genre that I was really interested in.
btw, I'm glad to see kaguya-hime in your favorites... it's surprisingly less popular than I thought it would be, so I'm glad to see you've watched and enjoyed it :D
funnily enough, I don't think I actually minded any of the more graphic scenes
and omg they traumatized me when I was younger
but I have a sibling who's still obsessed, so thought that was kind of funny lol 😆
yeah, it's a special show
I do have a question though.. how much do you enjoy Erin Hunter books??
I love your profile <3
Also, "using all the budget on the first three episodes" doesn't even make sense since of course I think we know its not budget which determines the animation of shows ... I agree that they could've done better with the animation in most episodes when it comes to gestures etc.. but the main focus of animation was given to the action scenes which were fantastically well done.
Sorry if it's a little long >.< and you don't have to reply to the whole thing piece by piece lol. Btw I chose not to watch black n white to maybe save it, in case you watch it sometime, then maybe we could compare them together another time, like in 10 years or so :P
Also, you know... I've had it on my watchlist since it arrived on netflix and it still would've just been sitting there if it wasn't for your little prompt, so thanks! :)
and yea good point, also Samurai Champloo has a good dub that could help newcomers if they aren't ready for subs yet.
Oh Minus One is that good? I haven't seen it myself but hearing u praise it like that makes me wana watch it, I'll let you know my thoughts when I do :)
Have you watched Godzilla minus one (black n white)? just kinda curious how it'll hold up to an actual retro fan
I think it's cool that you have more of a retro taste in things, and your art is really good, such a fun style!
