Oi oi, mochiron you would meet people here! Is what "community" kinda means, no? (: I'm not "clubbing" much either per say, adn truth be told I believe people would notice you via comments on someone's profile and such, of course in clubs and forums too
I hope you won't find my advice here rude, but internet is what liberates you of the shyness sometimes, at the beginning at least since there is no reputation to be kept and nourished, so you can freely hit off a conversation on any topic that crosses your mind when you spot something that caught your eye ^.^
