Aloha guys. Pokemon Go has been released and its already massive. Ive read somewhere that it has been download over 100,000 times in the first hours after its release (and those numbers are only for New Zealand, Japan and Australia!).

It has been also released to the US fandom today. Have you downloaded it? Are you playing it right now? Do you like it? How many Pokemons have you caught and where?

Share with us your experiences.

keep it cute xoxo

P.S. Im downloading it right now...so freaking excited!

What the fuck is Pokemon Go. I keep seeing this fucking crap everywhere and I don't understand it. AR games are shit. I have a 3DS. I've played em. They're not fun. So what's the appeal with Pokemon Go?

Furthermore, this thread should be in gaming and technology.

It's nothing too special. It uses the gps function to give your avatar a map to navigate around. On the map you can find pokemon by looking through your phone's camera.

You can aso battle at gym's with what you catch. But its basicall Pokemon Snap in rl, with no rl pokemon. But it passes the time if you're forced to walk and get bored.

Its a real world pokemon catching game. You travel out into the real world and randomly encounter pokemon to catch while traveling. Secondly, there are gyms you compete for to be the gym leader for that gym, for your team. Gyms are based on real world locations in the world. For example my local museum is a gym. I am the gym leader. There are three teams, yellow red and blue. Each competing for these gyms. You're simply looking to catch all the pokemon, train or find stronger ones. And use them to battle gym leaders to capture gyms, or use them to defend a gym you've captured.

It's not like the normal pokemon games in which its not direct pvp. However its also a bit more oriented to get you outside and moving. It's pretty fun when you play it, especially with other people. To coordinate attacks on gyms.

The game it's based off of, Ingress, is still super popular and thriving after years, and it uses much of the same style.

It's pretty fun so far aside from the constant crashing.

I went out for a walk and ran int o a few people playing as well. Met up with some friends, walked around the city and got some pokemon / conquered some gyms. It's a lot more fun obviously with friends. My buddies and I go out and drive / walk around and we run into other people as well at Pokestops and Gyms.

I live in LA County SoCal though, so the population is a lot more dense over here. It makes the game a lot more lively.
Touch me, you filthy casual~

Have to walk over 3 KM to get 1 pokemon.
Is there some kind of tutorial or am I doing something wrong? I am supposed to walk to those ''shaky grass?'' I do but nothing fucking happens. I guess this is one way to train. #Walkedover5KMTODAY>
Got 3 pidgey's and 1 kingler that's about it.
5 fucking KM...

Well I am using an APK so europe is fucked.

I have 7 for now. I didn't walk that much, they literally came to me so I could catch them.
My background camera doesn't work, and my brother's either. I don't know why. But anyway, I'm planning to go tomorrow for a walk and catch some more, the thing is... that I'm a bit lazy and I usually don't go outside, so let's see.
So far, good. However, I would like to see a "friends" feature: so I could see my friends on my map (or not... because children play it and it could be unsafe, now that I think about it), gift them some pokémon I already have or fight against them.
It's true that the game is a bit buggy and it has server issues, but I think it will be like that for now and it will be fixed in the near future.

Edit: The bad thing is that it basically "eats" your battery.

Los Angeles based trainer here.

These are my current Pokemon as of right now, started playing last night.

I haven't traveled much besides going to 7/11 and back for snacks. Lol

I'm enjoying it so far, and the battery issue can be managed.
I hope the trading feature between players comes out soon, since I wanna get my girlfriend into it.

And yes, for those who don't know, trading was confirmed months ago, but they stated it wouldn't be at release.

EDIT: I'm joining the blue team at Level 5 (I'm currently 4)
Which team is everyone joining or is already a part of? For those who don't know, there's Red, Blue, and Yellow.

@Mirotokiwa If you're lucky some of your neighbors might use lure modules on stops. You can also try walking near stops even without modules. I got 3 pokemon within 5 minutes waiting at a stop compared to 1 or 2 every 15 minutes walking around aimlessly.

Got these on an hour long walk walk earlier:

@Fresh_Mint Mostly Yellow? Interesting, my local area seems mostly Yellow and Red I believe, about to go wander for an hour soon, finally check things out.

For some reason, I get the feeling Yellow will be the least populated team globally, not that I have a logical reason for that assumption. But that's what I believe, with Red being the most popular.

The game was just released so the earlier players running around are probably just dominating all the gyms with their color. Give it a week and gyms will probably even out?

@Mirotokiwa What the.... is it safe to assume the game hates you yet? Ruffling grass gives me high CP Pokes- given I've only stepped on two but 150 and 170 seem pretty good. Try walking at a different time of day? Maybe there's someone beating you to all the Pokemon and clearing the area? If the game even works like that anyway. I'm out of ideas.

I downloaded it, played it for ten or so minutes and realized there's really nothing to do in it and stopped. It may be ok for checking whenever you go out to somewhere new, but it's not something you can just sit and mess around with, plus it's a battery killer, which makes me never want to use it when I'm out and away from a charger. It really just feels like it's still in beta; however, based on what my friends are saying, I'm in the minority in my not loving it (and I do love Pokemon in general).

You may not be having luck with Pokemon yet, but having a stop close enough to be used from your room is a luxury a lot of people wish they had.

You can't fight wild Pokemon, just catch them.

You can only fight at gyms - currently, no idea if they have plans to expand that to direct player battles or anything.

For some reason it considers the dried-up retention pond in my backyard a lake, so all I ever get from home is water types. Not complaining though, I love water types and I need all those magikarp to evolve one of them.

Gonna try to go out today and get some more variety. Wish there was a park or something around here but there really isn't, I'll probably have to go to a mall or something.

Even non-weeaboo people grew up with Pokemon. There's tons of people playing the game. And its accessibility of it being a phone app, rather than say a 3DS game is what makes it even more appealing to the general population. Its been only out for 2 days and it has 1 million+ downloads on the Play Store. Probably just as much on the iOS platform.

It's just a fun way to kill time while on a walk or biking or whatever else. Even if you look like a retard, you're still outside getting exercise and fresh air.
