Read this first — a note about scoring: My scoring tends to be pretty conservative, usually a two or three points below what you would normally use. A 4 is a completely neutral score — a series that isn't really good nor bad (or at least averages out as such) — and a 9 indicates an actual masterpiece. I'd generally recommend anything with a 7 or above. (Anything that I watched to completion below a 4 is probably at least interesting. It's better to be bad and interesting than mediocre and forgettable — a lot better, in my opinion.)
Check out my list!: I give most shows I've watched short reviews on my list, so if you want to know my slightly-more-in-depth thoughts on a series, you can check that out.
What I watch: While I'm always interested in interesting new shows, and those do a sizable chunk of what I've watched. However, I'm (usually more) interested in looking through the history of the medium (recent — like the first half of the 2010s — and farther back — to the '00s and beyond) to find the critically acclaimed, interesting gems, and weird experiments of the medium.
I('d like to think that I) can enjoy almost any genre or kind of show, but it'd be naive to assume I don't have my own biases, at least in terms of what catches my eye. I'm pretty sure you can figure those out by looking at my list — self-reporting this kind of thing is bound to lead to errors. I'm not going to name any genres here because I don't really find genres that helpful in defining what a show actually is[1].
About manga: I've actually reading manga for longer than I've been watching anime — albeit very casually. What this basically means is that unless we're talking about unusually good adaptations, I find that I prefer most manga to their adaptations[2] for... various reasons that I may go into one day.
Video Games!: Before I got into anime and manga, my primary hobby was video games. And believe you me, I played a lot of them. I still play a lot of them. As you can expect, most of them were Japanese. I think it was around when I was playing Steins;Gate when I was like "Why the fuck am I not just also watching anime at this point?" So I did.
My favorite games:
If there's one game I'd 100% recommend from this list, it's Virtue's Last Reward, mostly because, despite it being a VN, there's a literal zero percent chance of it ever getting adapted into any other medium besides video games. I do not exaggerate when I say it'd be literally impossible. Persona 5 is also a better anime than most actual anime, so there's that.

Footnotes
[1] — As a particularly extreme example, Evangelion, Gurren Lagann, Code Geass, and Dynazenon are all "mecha" shows, and they're about as different as anime can be.
[2] — if you're about to bring Your Favorite Adaptation (something like Mob Psycho, AoT, Jujutsu Kaisen, etc.) up in response, keep in mind that I probably agree with you on that one.
[3] — That I specifically went out and watched because it was "anime." (Mostly because — at least at the time — it was the one anime everyone would scream at you if you searched "anime for beginners") Like I'm sure most people, I watched whatever newest Pokemon, Beyblade and Yu-Gi-Oh series were on TV when I was a kid.
And remember that it's an abstract score on Some Guy's MAL profile, not a personal attack.
