The AU themes I choose can be referring to the genre, world, setting, profession, appearance etc. Characters that canonically fall into any of these categories for a theme can't be claimed. For example: The first theme will be a Mafia AU. Any characters who are part of the mafia, or in an anime/manga/game that is mafia related cannot be claimed.
