Synopsis

Ryuuto Kashima is a gloomy high-schooler who quietly spends his days watching his crush, the beautiful Runa Shirakawa, from afar. She rules the school and has had no shortage of boyfriends. Although Ryuuto is fully convinced she'd never accept him, fate leads him to confess his feelings to her anyway. To his astonishment, she accepts—simply because she's "available" at the time—but the surprises don't end there. She immediately invites him over as if it's the most natural thing in the world! This odd couple is different in just about every way—the friends they keep, their hobbies, their love lives—but with every passing day, they grow a little bit closer. This may not be Runa's first relationship, but their dating story is going to be full of firsts for them both!

Initially when I started reading this a year or so ago I did not think much of it. While I liked how it flipped the whimpy guy trope on its head a bit I was not a fan of the wish fulfillment aspect that showed itself in how Runa treated Ryuuto. However having now read the first 6 volumes I think it has really developed into something that is somewhat unique. The main draw of this manga is just how frank they are in how they portray young relationships, particularly the female side. I haven't read the LN, and there's only 5 chapters out as of writing this review, but I do feel inclined to leave a review here even though I've never reviewed on this site before.

On the surface this story may seem like another carbon copy of the popular girl x gloomy guy trope, but through the female lead, I feel like it addresses really important elements of the way some girls approach dating. This series is okay, but I believe there never should have been an Anime.
Everything about this title is just so pale, the interactions, story, animation, etc.
There is this iffy feeling that keeps you feeling unsatisfied and wondering if this is all the show has to offer.

If anything I would even say there are some points where the wrong message is being taught. Luckily even the painfully naive male MC makes great efforts to ensure things work with the loose gal.
You aren't missing anything by passing on this series, there isn't anything special here to keep you attached for the long run.
