Wild 7

"Officer your Japanese isn't very good. You said 'exterminate' didn't you mean 'arrest'?

Wild 7 has a simple premise. The police are so screwed they've hired criminals to be the police, and those criminals are doing a damn good job. Japanese motorcycle culture meets reformed criminals overcoming even worse criminals and coming out on top. To hell with the chain of command, these guys know the score.

Each character has very obvious character traits to reflect their criminal backgrounds. but they do evolve and get better. Totally not-Dr. Eggman ends up being one of the most supportive criminals.

If you like an anime where criminals act ... like good guys by being the worst people imaginable you'll like this.

I'm going to keep this review short and to the point, just like the anime itself.
Wild 7 is a very fun anime to watch, it's definitely not extraordinary, but what it does, it succeeds in pretty well.
The story, albeit it seems rushed, was interesting enough to glue my eyes to the screen, to see how it would all turn out in the end, and oh boy was it worth it. All the main characters had a certain charm to them, that really made them entertaining, and seeing them interact with each other, and seeing the way they fought, were some of the highlights of this ... OVA.
This anime is very gory and violent, almost absurdly violent at points, but that's exactly what makes it so much fun to watch. Classic violent "gar" anime that really needs some more attention, stuff like this can be rare to find in newer anime.
I would personally recommend Wild 7 to anyone wanting to get more into the gory 80's and 90's OVA's, and people who just want to kill 2 hours fast.

I feel like a good 7 describes my feelings about Wild 7 well. Not perfect or crazy good, but a good older anime nonetheless.

Usually I enjoy older anime because it has a different humor and tone to it. That's why I decided to give Wild 7 I try.

However I just struggled so hard to stay awake during the first episode. This anime is really really terrible, and I absolutely mean it. It has poor animation that flows sluggishly, the frames are choppy and the color palette shows how old it is. When the cars move around, it looks like there are at least 10 frames missing in between shots. The motorcycles aren't much better and they are animated about the same. For an action ... enemy it doesn't look good at all.

The gore and brutality I expected were very present in the action sequences. It is so poorly drawn that it looks more cartoonish than gory. For an anime that was advertised for its brutality, I found almost nothing in it.

The story is laughable and very one-dimensional. The characters are cardboard cutouts in the most stereotypical way you could imagine. Nothing new but they could have at least pretended to ride you see my interesting backstory to one or two characters.

Overall I give it a 3 out of 10 (generous) and save yourself some time to watch something better.
