Fuguushoku "Kanteishi" ga Jitsu wa Saikyou Datta

TL:DR: At this point I dont expect much from it, given how fast it progresses, but I wont be dropping it yet. Sadly I feel like it could be done better (haven't read the sauce tho), but as if now, it's ok as a meal anime.
Not as bad as it might seem, but I recommend you wait few more episodes and check later reviews to give it a try...

Story is mid so far, hard to say at 3rd episode. Def cliche and really fast pace, probably leaving out chunks of source (or maybe not).
Character design and animation is good. Fights are pretty good (sadly given ... how this is often lacking in these kinds of shows).

Normally I would say its pretty decent pick, but it suffers from the same issues plaguing most recent mid lvl fantasy anime releases...
The MC is OP (trash skill turned op so hard he extracts multiple skills from each killed enemy, usually with max lvl too so I dont expect any rewarding progress). The MC is also very naive - minor spoiler ( in 3rd ep I was looking forward to see how they will approach that MC has his 1st waifu with him when he goes to meet the ppl who betrayed him and left him to die, but instead of moral clash between innocent spirit girl and guy looking for revenge we got the MC just forgiving the ppl who used him as a bait for monsters 2eps prior).
The comedic scenes are the classic shounen cringe (its not Naruto lvl, but still bad, I would say barely fine). One thing that was kinda funny is surprisingly the harem, as the way he got his 2nd (the first impression) and 3rd (ykyk) were really surprising and funny.

This feels like a very rushed and lazily laid out beginning of a JRPG video game, hastily getting a player to the gameplay before they start feeling like ditching it.

They gave the MC, Ein, way too excessive abilities right out of the bat, skipped some fights where he gained new abilities, rushed boss fights, and, most damagingly, hastily surrounded him with so many characters in very uninteresting way:
1) They lazily got rid of the concern of him being separated from Yuri and Ursula by making them effortlessly able get to him through Anime bullshizery methods
2) They greatly undermined Ein's meeting with the guy who sacrificed ... him to the wolves.
3) They met 2 new characters in a very quick "chance meeting" scene, which the led to...
4) A very rushed and forced 'Harem' situation.

It's one thing to be a generic, low-quality, non-substance show that's entertaining due to how bad it is. But it's a whole 'nother level of low to be a bad Anime and just blaze through everything in an attempt to bait the audience before they start leaving, planting way too much too early without proper pacing.
Such a shame since I was being entertained by Ursula and Ein's banter. But now that the story- which wasn't much of one in the first place- is all over the place, it's just becoming more of a guilty pleasure watching this.

Plot Summary:

The MC (let’s call him Plot Armor-kun) begins his journey as the quintessential loser, possessing an appraisal skill considered useless in his world. Instead of fighting monsters or protecting allies, he’s treated as little more than a tool to identify loot. Naturally, his neglectful party abuses him, and it’s only when ... they leave him for dead that he discovers the hidden potential of his “useless” skill. As it turns out, his appraisal ability has some serious hidden perks—plot twists galore!

In true edgy-hero fashion, Plot Armor-kun swears vengeance and begins training, quickly becoming one of the strongest beings in his world. The first girl he encounters immediately becomes smitten with him. If the pattern holds, expect every female character to inexplicably fall in love with him because... why not?

Art and Animation:

The art style is solidly above average. Character designs are sharp, and the animation quality holds up in both action and quieter moments. While the visuals don’t reinvent the wheel, they’re polished enough to keep you engaged. Special effects, especially during power reveals, add some flair without overdoing it.

Music and Sound:

The music fits the dark and edgy tone of the story. It complements the action sequences well and sets the mood for the protagonist’s transformation arc. That said, the opening theme is pretty standard fare for this genre—not bad, but not memorable enough to keep me from hitting “skip.”

Characters:

So far, character development is... minimal. The MC is your typical stoic, revenge-driven hero, and while his backstory offers some emotional weight, his personality hasn’t evolved beyond “angry and overpowered.” The first female lead seems infatuated with him (standard harem bait), but her motivations and depth remain unclear. Other supporting characters, if you can call them that, mostly serve as fodder for the MC to either surpass or punish.

Will the show surprise us with meaningful character growth later on? Probably not, but hey, I’m holding out hope.

First Impressions:

Fuguushoku "Kanteishi" ga Jitsu wa Saikyou Datta checks all the boxes for a mid-tier fantasy revenge anime. Weak MC? Check. Overpowered abilities unlocked at the brink of death? Check. Edgy attitude and a chip on his shoulder? Double-check.

The premise isn’t groundbreaking, but it’s not bad either. If the story finds a way to subvert expectations or dive deeper into character development, it could rise above its average beginnings. However, for now, it’s a formulaic show with decent visuals and an okay setup.

Final Thoughts:

This anime might appeal to fans of revenge-fantasy stories like Arifureta or The Rising of the Shield Hero. It’s not groundbreaking, but it could develop into something enjoyable if it plays its cards right. I’m cautiously optimistic and will keep watching, hoping for improvement.
