I'm glad that Sango reveals the secret to passing through a barrier to a cave near her village where the shrine maiden Midoriko created the Shikon Jewel. There are some past stories here which are interesting^^

Kirara's backstory, but also the history of the Shikon Jewel. Does Myoga's vision of Midoriko superimposed over Inuyasha have some deeper meaning?

So, I wonder if that was actually Kirara with Midoriko in the past? The way the scene was handled seems to suggest it was. But, that means Kirara has been alive for a long, long time. That scene with Midoriko superimposed over Inuyasha was interesting.

Probably the worst episode within the last 11 or so. It did have a few interesting explanations though.

It was nice that the story of the Shikon Jewel and how it came to be was told. It was explained pretty early so that's good.

Interesting. So... Kirara is like, so old that she had actually not only witnessed Midoriko when she fought the Youkai, but also assisted her?

Also, Midoriko seems like a very cool figure. I hope she'll get some screen time later in the series.

Kirara was also around the time when Sango's grandfather was young. Which alost means she was there when the jewel was passed to Kikyo.

Some explanations this episode, but the short fight in the cave didn't felt necessary, could have easily been without that.

There are so many demons in the world of Inuyasha since time immemorial it seems.

I am not sure I understood the whole story about Jewels. Kirara is so old.. another cute addition to the cast :)

And yes, agreed, the fight in the cave felt unnecessary.

I think it was rather obvious in the episode. He was wanting entrance for reasons that weren't altruistic. He showed no sympathy for the dead or respect for the place. That's why he came back and performed a prayer with an apology.

Midoriko throwing InuYasha out the cave = her version of "sit boy" lol

so the guys learns that the shikon jewel is in fact the symbol of the human vs demons war, good information to know what the jewel is capable of, and also learns how it came to kikyo, and that she's the only one knows how to purify the jewel.

why myuga had to do that is really a mystery to my eyes.

and kirara was the important vessel of midorikio, and so she sticked to sango to continue his subject.

Great backstory about Shikon Jewel :D

Feels bad that Sango's whole clan was been wiped out.

Midoriko seems to be one powerful warrior and the reason for Shinkon's creation.

Her armor and look really reminds me of Claymore, which is weird since Claymore boast more of a western armor style.

I guess Kirara and Midoriko used to be partners :O

How old is Kirara!

1. SANGO explained the origin of sacred jewel. It manifested from Priestess MIDORIKO.

2. INUYASHA experienced MIDORIKO's version of "SIT". :D

Surprised that the mystery surrounding the main plot device of Inuyasha, the Shikon jewel, was cleared so early. Or at least some parts of it. There's still the mystery of why Naraku wants this jewel. And if he wanted it, he could've gotten it way sooner. But he didn't. In other words, the plot thickens.

Now that the main plot about Inuyasha has been established it looks like we're moving back to the monster of the week formula from next episode. All it took was 26 episodes. I don't have anything against this formula but after 26 episodes of mostly main plot it kind of kills the pacing when the story moves on to side plots.

You effectively just ended what could be considered the extended introduction and prologue, bringing all our main characters together and providing some fleshing out of their respective purposes and reasons for forging common purpose (not that there won't be more fleshing out later down the line). Now, the real journey begins! Remember as well (I know I mentioned or at least alluded to this in a previous post), the monster-of-the-week-esque episodes may not (usually don't) advance the obvious plot on the surface in major overt ways - that is, the shikon no tama reassembly plot as it can become impossible at points to know exactly how well that's progressing. But they still always or almost always advance the characters from micro steps to gargantuan leaps. So it becomes this question of perspective in terms of what is actually held to be the true or most important plot by the individual viewer. The characters' internal and interpersonal development can serve as the true plot and then major external developments outside of the core gang's day-to-day can come on as a radical and abrupt shock to the status quo.

But yeah, the series will be frustrating for those who want the status quo shaken up and even overturned a lot. I think I love it because I often crave the opposite in a series - familiarity and repetition (when connected to the characters), so Inuyasha is perfect.

I don't have anything against slow pacing if it's done right. It's just that I was skeptical since the last anime I watched Ranma 1/2 also had an excellent intro in the first 20 or so episodes but the rest of the 100+ episodes were mostly mediocre. So far Inuyasha seems different and I'm liking it.

The mystery is revealed in an excellent way, although I think there are many secrets that have not been revealed
