I loved the darker tone of the MVA arc, but I could never get through the intro without laughing when the OP hits. Watching characters getting brutally beaten and killed or the start to one of the villains depressing backstories, only to have it be abruptly followed by "Woah woah it's alright. Everything will be alright" just kills me every time. Anyone else lose it at the unintentional comedy of the show switching from the darker tone of the show to the upbeat tone and ironic lyrics of Merry Go Round?

yeah I couldn't really take merry go round seriously either. especially since it serves as the opening for what was supposed to be the darkest arc yet

At this point the whole show has become an unintentional shounen parody

First MHA opening I’ve consistently skipped. The others were all so good and yet this one sounds like a parody, I couldn’t take it seriously!

If you want a perfect example of what it's like, go watch the start of episode 23 where Twice is promising he won't let Toga die in a really tense moment... and then immediately after "woah woah, it's alright, everything will be alright!" It feels like a straight up meme XD

Understandable. It's the perfect example of a good song on its own, but a bad song alongside BNHA. Kinda like how Bioshock Infinite is a good game on its own, but is at the same time a bad Bioshock game.

I don't hate it but MVA should have had its own opening, still salty about how they handled season 5.

the op sounds good to me but doesn't fit the arc at all. it sounded like a parody or meme every time it's played lol
