I love how food plays an important part in this show.

Maybe it’s the analytical part in me, but from start to end, I can’t help but notice food played an important part in getting these three together (the Christmas party cake disguise, Kazuki’s hamburger steak for Miri, the flash forward diner scene). They also eat meals together as often as possible (Rei’s surprise party comes to mind). Even Miri’s mom prepared her own version of hamburger steak when she reunited with her again and just before that incident.

The diner, at least to me, was also pretty symbolic since not they’re only together, but a lot more open to others as well. It contrasts the nice apartment owned by Rei that, while nice and swanky, was definitely felt more isolated and guarded.

Yeah, and it just makes perfect sense that they opened a restaurant later on, considering Kazuki is good in the kitchen.
